Did some further tests with ThinOS 9.0.4024 and Citrix_2006_1146 on a 3040.

Still calls peer to peer are fine, but when joining a Teams Meeting, audio becomes very bad (robotic voices), even without webcam or screen sharing.

When doing the same tests on a 5070 it seems that Wyse has solved the issues with performance. Teams meetings audio sounds fine even if using webcam and screen sharing.

Upgraded a 3040 to the latest Citrix_2006_1146.pkg. Finally some good news! Audio and video much better!

Yes 8.6_511 is exactly the same.

Forgot to say they do not use headset for audio or webcam. They are using a dial in number instead. They say it often randomly happens when some one are screen sharing in Teams

Bought a 5070 ThinOS 9.0.3030 with Pentium CPU.

    Installed Citrix_2006_1130.pkg

Teams Peer to Peer call works fine both audio and video.

But when we test with a Teams meeting everything goes bad.

During some of the meetings (which only have two participants) everything in the Desktop session are slow – about 20 seconds delay. CPU and Mem on the XenServer was fine. CPU on the Wyse are about 50%.

Every time you leave the meeting Teams hangs for up to two minutes with the screen “Leaving meeting”. You hear 50% of the “leave sound” in the headset. Everything in the session are frozen. Session reliability kicks in.

Then suddenly you get the rest of the sound and the meeting are leaved and the session comes alive again.

This can only be reproduced on a ThinOS

I know Teams prefer G722 codec for meetings and Opus for peer to peer. That might be the root cause here.

I will be having a meeting Friday with Dell presales regarding ThinClients. Their comment by mail regarding 3040 and Teams was: “Our experience is that it requires some more processor power to run teams in the standard expected by users, precisely because of Teams off-load on the box. Therefore, we recommend Wyse 5070 with pentium processor, and preferably 8GB RAM like ThinOS or Wyse 5070 Windows IoT (2019).”

So I do not expect 3040 to be able to run Teams offload as it could with Skype. That is pretty sad.

I did Teams audio tests with a single monitor where I listened to what was being said from the client. I was not that impressed.

Speech was sometimes “played” slower or sounded like a robot.

Problem here is that we have a LOT of them.

If we have to buy new clients because of that, I am not sure it will be ThinOS again.

I have just got a 5070 Win 10 IoT to test on.

    H Dagks

We have the exact same issue here. I have a few users testing 3040 and Teams. They also say audio getting worse after some time. Especially having meeting with more people. Also doing something else in the Citrix session – eg typing in Word are lagging – until the Teams call is ended.

Yes 5070 could be the replacement
