Just got a response back from Wyse. The T50 does NOT support PXE boot. Sad.

I sent it back already. The wyse tech claimed that the 64m file will not work with a 64MB flash. Who’s right here?

Furthermore, right on the download page is says…

    2. Linux V6.6.2_02 wy_sc_6.6.2-02_32.exe 6.6.2.02 Image file for FTP upgrade. 64Mb Flash required

    3. Linux V6.6.2_02 wy_sc_6.6.2-02_64.exe 6.6.2.02 Image file for FTP upgrade. 128Mb Flash required

At wyse.com (as of 9/17/09 at 10:18EDT) you can download wy_sc_6.6.2.-2_32.exe and wy_sc_6.6.2.-2_64.exe. When you run wy_sc_6.6.2.-2_32.exe the self-extractor says “This file contains Wyse Linux version 6.6.2 biuld 02 for deployment on S50 (Rohs), V50L and V50LE with at least 64Mb of flash and using the FTP upgrade method. Does your unit meet these requirements? (Yes No)” When you run wy_sc_6.6.2.-2_64.exe the self-extractor says “This file contains Wyse Linux version 6.6.2 biuld 02 for deployment on S50 (Rohs), V50L and V50LE with at least 128Mb of flash and using the FTP upgrade method. Does your unit meet these requirements? (Yes No)” I went ahead and tried wy_sc_6.6.2.-2_64.exe anyway and bricked the unit. I just got it back from cintronics and they did not flash it for me. Now I need to try it again and fear I will brick it again.

Then there would be no way to recover. It would become a brick!

Wow! The manual certainly didn’t explain that. Thank you! Now what would happen if you specified NNN?

Well I flashed it via ftp and it worked! Now I have over 50MB available. I used the V50L firmware and was very nervous because a bunch of error messages appeared during the upgrade and then the unit was locked up after it rebooted. One more reboot cured it and it seems ok now. Thanks for all your help!!

Maybe you cannot answer this but why do I have to flash these units to use the full memory? Why aren’t they correct when you buy them?

I don’t see different images based on the flash size available for download from Wyse. Am I missing something?
