So after getting my S50 running I tested it out at youtube.com. The video is so slow and the sound so choppy that it is unusable. Not to mention that the browser loads extremely slow. These S50’s were earmarked to be part of a web based training system that featured lots of video and now I don’t think they will cut it. They work great with my terminal server for running apps but video is painful. Does anyone disagree with me that these are not good for web browsing/video?
I agree 100%. The processor is too slow for local browsing.
Are there any thin clients that can do video?
Hi freak,
steinlager is right. I have seen this and could not believe the performance.
But if you need local browsing and wants to stay with Linux you should try to get a new V50LE. I have roughly tested some videos from youtube on my V50 and they worked perfect. As Wyse has stopped the V50 and is now having a V50L and a V50LE I would recommend the LE.
V50L is 800MHz
V50LE is 1.2 GHz
V50 was 1GHz
Cheers
