December 24, 2021 at 3:44 am in reply to: Wyse 3040 on ThinOS 9.x and Browser Content Redirection #106730
Hi,
No, I did not test it in the end. Instead, I used another thin client type that allows using a local browser instead of Citrix.
Thanks Thomas for all your help so far!
I agree with the above comments: ThinOS 9 is unusable slow on Wyse 3040s.
It may be fine when 3040s are used as dashboards but definitely not as user workstations when user experience is bad.
This is a big disappointment and fail on the Dell-Wyse side and pushes companies to protect their investments made in 3040s clients by using other (competition) OS on them – which surprisingly works fine and it’s more responsive than ThinOS 9.x…
Same issue here, my post about DSA-2020-281 from last year was not published.

November 25, 2020 at 3:38 pm in reply to: Wyse ThinOS 9.0 – poor performance & screen responsiveness #53627Thanks for your input guys.
I’ve played with different video codec policy settings but it does not make too much difference. I think I’ve seen in Wyse documentation that they recommend using “For the entire screen” option in ThinOS 9.
I disabled EDT but then the responsiveness of Wyse 3040s under ThinOS 9 is still bad and laggy – what is your impression guys, is it only me who sees that ThinOS 9 is much heavier than ver. 8?
I installed IGEL OS on a 3040 and it works perfectly. I am just one step now from migrating my whole estate to IGEL OS. Cannot replace my 800 3040s with Wyse 5070 to get ThinOS working correctly. It’s really sad how Dell manages Wyse division…
November 24, 2020 at 1:10 pm in reply to: Wyse 3040 ThinLinux and Chromium as a default browser #53595“google-chrome” starts Chrome but it does not seem to accept any switches like “–kiosk”.
November 24, 2020 at 12:58 pm in reply to: Wyse 3040 ThinLinux and Chromium as a default browser #53590H Thomas,
Good suggestion about the Custom Connection option.
I’ve tried the below command but does not have any effect and the client is not starting Chrome after boot:
CONNECT=CUSTOM Description=”Chrome Kiosk Mode” Command=google-chrome –kiosk http://example.com Recot=yes ReconnectSeconds=30 AutoConnect=yes Runterminal=yes LocalCopy=yes
I don’t see any examples for the above command in the documentation so not sure if the way I call Chrome (with “google-chrome”) is correct.

November 23, 2020 at 3:45 pm in reply to: Wyse 3040 ThinLinux and Chromium as a default browser #53567Hi Thomas,
I have Chrome installed as a part of the ThinLinux 2.1 image, the issue is that the Wyse Management Suite policy uses Firefox for publishing websites in Kiosk mode, not Chrome – unless I am missing something 🙂
Thanks
November 16, 2020 at 12:13 pm in reply to: Wyse ThinOS 9.0 – poor performance & screen responsiveness #53528Hi Thomas,
I have some test ThinLinux based 3040s so will test them as soon as I can.
I don’t know why EDT is making my 3040s and 5070s so slow, no clue what may be causing this in my environment. Even when EDT is NOT enabled, 3040s are laggy to me so cannot really be used in production.
I already tried a different Storefront server and different VDA versions. Also 5070s are slow in my network with 9.x and EDT enabled but not as bad as 3040s.
In your opinion, how does performance and responsiveness of the latest ThinOS 9.x build compare to 8.x.? To me, it seems like 3040s with 9.x can only be used for dashboards as they are underpowered to run as workstations or as anything which involves direct interactions with users.

November 13, 2020 at 1:47 pm in reply to: Wyse ThinOS 9.0 – poor performance & screen responsiveness #53504After further troubleshooting, it turned out that the issue was caused by the “EDX Adaptive Transport” Citrix policy which is ON by default.
After disabling the above Citrix policy the client is usable, HOWEVER, its performance and responsiveness are still noticeably behind ThinOS 8.6.
This is a huge disappointment as I’ve been waiting many months for the EDT support, hoping this would provide users with a better experience. Now, not only EDT is broken in my environment but the Citrix Workspace app implementation in ThinOS 9.0 seems to be poor as well.
I cannot stress enough how ThinOS 9.x. let me down. Now, I am thinking of trialing IGEL clients or handing over managing thin clients to someone else as I cannot provide my user base with acceptable experience by using ThinOS 9.x.
October 16, 2020 at 12:15 pm in reply to: Autologon / SSO to Azure AD Authentication logon prompt (ThinOS 9) #53301Have you heard anything about the above feature being on the roadmap for ThinOS 9.x.?
Thank you,
Hi Thomas,
I’ve also had some issues with posting in this forum.
1. When I try to edit an existing post then it disappears and cannot add any more reply to the topic.
2. When I tried to attach an image to the topic the same as above happened.
This forum is losing some valuable contend because of that 🙂
Hi Thomas,
I am pushing this feature through the UK Wyse sales team.

September 16, 2020 at 3:58 pm in reply to: Autologon / SSO to Azure AD Authentication logon prompt (ThinOS 9) #53073hmm I don’t see any way of achieving this with our on-prem StoreFront servers as they are not available for clients not on our network.
Even if we exposed them to the internet, we would still probably need a solution to proxy ICA/HDX traffic, which means Netscaler/Citrix Gateway.
Maybe @ConfGen could think of a workaround here since you are a Netscaler person?
