December 14, 2021 at 4:42 am in reply to: WMS 3.5 upgrade requires Service Account Credentials #106651
update:
DELL changed the working process from WMS 3.3.x with SYSTEM permissions to WMS 3.5 with an system account. I’ve create an system local account during the installation and everything was fine till the next reboot. The user is not assigned to the system local group “Log on as a Service and Batch” and the services can’t be started. So I added the local account to the local group.I don’t understand why people do this. It’s a step backwards and makes it harder to work with group policies and hardening.
Update: i know its fixed with WMS 3.5.1
Hello,
how to fix onprem WMS solutions?
I can’t find any knowledgebase article on DELL page. 🙁Best regards

http://1drv.ms/1WAPz1VJanuary 21, 2016 at 8:51 am in reply to: Migrating WDM Server from XenServer to VMWare and Changing IP Address (WDM 4.8) #42374now the devices are using the dhcp option tag but by changing the server IP address I would therefore change hundreds of DHCP scopes and so i would like to use the DNS Alias with the new ip address.
in my wnos.ini is the FQDN of the WDM Server configured and it will not change
January 20, 2016 at 1:19 pm in reply to: Migrating WDM Server from XenServer to VMWare and Changing IP Address (WDM 4.8) #42371hey,
I will change the ip address and all thinclients must connect with the new DNS Alias (CNAME) to the new IP Address.Should i create the DNS Alias in every subdomain where a device is?
I’m using Firmware 8.0_210 and in the wnos.ini is the parameter wdmserver=’hostname.fqdn’.
Or should i change or remove all dhcp scopes?

two additional questions 🙂Can i migrate the existing configuration like device configuration, subnets or licenses from the 4.8 wdm server to the new 5.0 wdm server?
If I change the IP address of the existing system, then the application and the database rapportdb are still working and the thinclients are able to continue working and used?
Best regards

the devices are using firmware 8.x
It would be easier to set the DNS CNAME than change the DHCP Settings in more than 175 DHCP Scopes.
Isn’t it quicker and easier to migrate the server as install a new system including database, etc.?
What needs to be changed in the database?
Best regards
