Onething I did discover is that there are actually two different non-Wyse BIOS update tools on this site and one managed to lock me out of BIOS completely (no response whatever to holding down the DELETE key) Other one appears to do the job it was intended to do.
Meanwhile I have got two Kingston DataTraveler 4 GB sticks and both work. The noname stick isn’t even recognized as “hard disk” in the boot menu although the USB imaging tool had no problem recognizing and writing ths image on it.
