Update: I had to Unroll and Re-enroll the Wyse manually from the Group in order for it to work (fetch settings?). If I tried to change the group from WMS, it would put itself back onto the original group on boot up.
From Wyse: System Settings (Gear icon) > Admin Mode (Lock Icon) > Central Config > WDA > Group Registration Key
Enter Different group key, restart, navigate and re-enter original group key, restart. Now it works.
This thing is so confusing.
Solved.
I fixed it by editing the following in the policy:
(WMS > Default Group Policy > ThinOS > Firmware Upgrade)- Disable Live Upgrade: No
- Firmware Update Logic: New firmware only
- Skip Local Firmware Check: No
I’m guessing that somewhere it keeps updating between two different firmwares.
I am confused about the Disable Live Upgrade box. When disabled, it will do updates immediately, correct?
Yes.
At first I was just doing Device Level Policy Config, but since that didn’t seem to work, I now created a new child group for testing, in which I moved one device over (by changing it’s Group Token) to do Group Level Policy Config. In that Group Policy, I changed from Zero Launchpad mode to Classic. It does the same thing. It says, right after Contacting WMS Server…, it pops up, again, every time with: Visual Experience has changed. Resetting to apply.
I have done so using Device Level Policy for testing and it continues to fail.
There was also a configuration for Skip Local Firmware Check that I disabled that had a warning saying when enabled; It could go into a reboot loop. Still nothing.
I also had to do my workaround for the Wyse to apply the settings.
Update: It doesn’t really seem to apply the Policy, every time I attempt my workaround, it does the same thing every time, saying its Contacting WMS and then Resetting for Visual Settings Change.
Yes
I have several 3040 come new in and out of my office and I see the same error. I am using 8.5_017. My current workaround is, as mentioned, is to use the Wyse USB Imaging tool to pull from the good and put on the bad.
