I had this same issue from behind a CISCO router. Change your TCP timeout settings from the default (1×30 seconds) to 2x or 3x. That ought to fix it. These settings are located on the options tab at the bottom where the DHCP tags are located.
It appears increasing the TCP timeout from 1×30 secs to 2×30 secs resolved the issue. I’m going to assume the older routers (2611’s) weren’t processing as fast as the newer (1841’s) ones.
Here’s the config. We found out that on the 2611 routers, it will work with DHCP (enabled on the router, but we dont use it). The FTP times out when a static address is used.
Well, we tried DHCP on the router today and got it to work, but it still wont read the FTP with a static address.. Everything else on the client works fine after the inital “reading system profile” times out.
While using a static they see no traffic on the router interface or IP cache flow. Any ideas?
Well, another update – it appears to be in the router. The sites we have with CISCO 1841’s work fine, the ones with 2611 models do not. Anyone have expereince with this?
Check your group policy settings. I had an issue similar to this, took me about 2 days to finally figure it out. I had my citrix server in the domain controller’s OU – default domain policy dictates that non-admins can’t logon to servers in that OU with the default windows policy settings. Moved the server to another OU and it worked fine. Those users in question need to be in the remote desktop users group.
It’s actually one of the best work environments I’ve ever worked in, but of course, I dont actually work in the unit – we have our own office. Most of the units aren’t too bad, we just have to work with construction / maintenance to get wiring/conduit run. Inmate labor isn’t tha bad, but the guys over at construction have no idea how to run cable/fiber etc. We had one run where they ran some cat-5 400+ feet then wondered why it only worked part of the time.
And of course, testing at another unit, everything works fine, as it should. I can read the wnos.ini across the WAN correctly. You never know what you get when inmate labor pulls your cat-5 😯
After troubleshooting at that particular site and setting up a FTP server on that site’s LAN there’s defintely a switch/infrastrucre issue. I’m going to try another site today. A lot of the stuff in that particular building is wired up on CAT5 using only 2 pair (10Mb) yeah – dont laugh, it’s the government. 🙄
Can you post your network settings? Whats the path on the FTP server you’re using?
Most default paths are C:inetpubftproot then wysewnoswnos.ini
I found on my shop that it’s easier to setup the network printer locally on the Citrix sever, and assign permissions on each printer per terminal (I use $TN in the config for AD Logon name). By doing this everything is centrally managed and there’s nothing to configure on the device. Works great.
I used the Icon=default paramter, worked out great. The unit can then be placed in a privledge=none mode and still have ICA access via the Icons.
Basically I want to use this config and use the connect manager only, however I’ve been unable to hide the IP address with the HideIP=yes function – any clues? If I set the priviledge to none, I cant even get the connect manager, even with the maximize flag, however I’m able to lock down everything I need under priviledge=low except the IP. Here’s my config

HideIP=yesThe PPPoE, Dialup, and PPTP manager are hidden but not the System information
I’m sure there’s a setting in the ICA section you can set to desktop – or do you have to use a 2nd Ini file and define your icons desktop etc? Seems like that might be the case, still researching but thanks for taking a look thinkthin!
