Hiya,
Hopefully you can shed some light as they really is not much on the wyse website to validate upgrading to WDM 4.5.3 from 4.4.1? The majority of units are the S90 in kiosk with a custom image.
any good pointer here would be great.
Thanks
Sammy 😯September 8, 2008 at 6:19 am #13836To be honest, if all is working now i would not worry with it.
Where you will need to upgrade is if you start to buy new units such as the newer V90L, these units require the newer WDM to support the most recent images and platform changes.
If you are just managing you existing image and not planning on adding units or changing the base OS to a newer version you are fine where you are on 4.4.1,
Cheers,
-TTSeptember 8, 2008 at 8:25 am #13839TT is right.
I would not go to 4.5.3 now if not really needed.
Next month you will see WDM 4.7 and then you can rethink your upgrade strategy but for now I would stay with 4.4.1.CG
September 8, 2008 at 8:45 pm #13848There are another 40 new S90’s being added to the site next week. will there be an issue with these units not being supported by WDM?
Thanks for the information so far.

September 9, 2008 at 7:02 am #13849No, S90 should work just fine with 4.4.1. as you can see today with your already existing S90.

September 9, 2008 at 7:05 am #13850Do you have any hotfixes installed on 4.4.1?
September 9, 2008 at 8:02 pm #13860Thanks for all your help on this. I am just going to bite the bullet and give it a go – will check patches etc before and if the new S90’s get seen, great, if not then will look to do the upgrade.
Thanks again.

September 19, 2008 at 8:04 pm #13931Not sure if it helps, but you’ll eventually have to move to 4.5.3 if only temporarily. WDM 4.7 won’t upgrade form 4.4.1.
I agree with the “if is ain’t broke don’t fix” method when it comes to WDM…Yeah there are a lot of new gizmos and bug fixes in current code, but there’s also new layers of complexity that accompany that stuff. 4.7 beta seems stable and it has big differences when you look at end-to-end security with HTTPS support for communication and file transfer.
