Hi everyone,
ive posted on here before and got some great responses so I thought I’d post again before calling Wyse Support (for the 4th time).
I am currently/still testing WDM and have recently installed 4.5.3 (as thats what Wyse Support told me to do the last time I called in seeking help with this issue).
I have been creating IP ranges and scanning them; everything seems to be working fine, WDM Creates the subnet automatically and it detects several wyse thin clients on our network.
The issue is that I know some exist (via DHCP leases, ping, VNC, etc..) and they are not being picked up by WDM at all. I scan the network and they just aren’t detected. I am unable to manually enter them in as I don’t know all of the specifics of each device plus there are a lot of them out there on our network.
I have asked our Wyse Support reps , Sales Reps and called Wyse Support twice and they said that all devices should be automatically detected on scan and no devices are too old for WDM to inventory.
Any help on this issue would be appreciated as I’m stumped and we’re trying to inventory our devices before a major upgrade.
thanks!
LTDJune 6, 2008 at 11:21 pm #13193Hi,
What platform are missing, XPe, CE, Linux or WTOS?
If its XPe the agents may need to be updated to the one that ships with WDM 4.5.3.
Cheers,
-TTJune 25, 2008 at 4:26 pm #13346so wyse support was incorrect on the phone when they said that all devices should be detected as is????
this is confusing…
June 25, 2008 at 5:30 pm #13350It mainly depends on how your network is structured. If you are doing a scan via IP range all client regardless of the OS should be detected. A scan via subnet will only work in the same subnet where WDM is installed as WDM is using a UDP broadcast for detecting clients.
Due to several changes and updates in the client part it could be an issue with an old agent. Or even worse if the client is so old that there is no WDM/Rapport agent installed at all.
Starting with WDM 4.5 SNMP is no longer supported and if your client do not have a HAgent version of the client portion installed they will never be detected.
So, make sure which clients are not detected. Which OS and which agent is installed.CG
