Cool, Ok lets go with the VM image of WDM and the DB on the same server.

You booted the V90 on the same subnet as the WDM server and the device did not appear in the console? In the Event Log of this server there are no errors about the web service failing or the hserverinit failing?

Sorry to cover old ground but last time you tested this there was no DHCP server so the device could not get a IP.

The next step is to run debugview.exe but if you could confirm the above 2 items that would be great,

    Cheers,

My apologies for not getting back sooner, but I was out on a deployment to a remote site.

I ran DebugView and FileMon on the box. I also went through the event logs. Even though there is no change and am using an assigned password that meets password requirements, there is a Logon error in the application log for the rapport account on SQL going through the named pipe connection.

Also, in DebugView, there is a No Ack Received message for the server on port 8008 as well as the HServer port or address is null message.

In FileMon, the RptStdSvc.exe has a dll error with not finding the DBmsLPCn.dll file on the box.

ON the SQL Server, no server records are present for port 80 in the Server table.

I have an image with the VM to roll it back prior to installing WDM. Any ideas?

if you type this into IE on the WDM browser what’s the response?
    http://localhost/hserver.dll?&V99

You should see a time stamp

If it returns error or prompts for login then its IIS settings

Also try swapping localhost for the actual server ip.

Did you change the SQL password for the Rapport account on the RapporDB? This password is set by the installer and con not be changed, maybe this is the error,

When I try the website, it gives a 401 error.

The SQL server account made by the installer was not changed and I verified I could log into the console using the rapport account with the ThinMgmt_451 password as noted in the Installation Guide.

Are we sure that VM 3.5 is a platform that can be used to install WDM on a W2K3 Virtual Server?

Yep, no issues with a virtulised server. 401 error indicates permissions issues with the server. Is this a stand alone server or a AD member, I think there is something going on with IIS permissions,

The server is a member server. I went and tried modifying the permissions on the Inetpub directory giving the Rapport account modify rights and giving the IUSR account read/execute.
