    Hello.

I’ve gotten a funny little V10L on my office now that suddenly seems to think it’s going to boot from a HD rather then the network.

During boot it comes up with the pxe boot and looking for DHCP but after a second or so it comes up with:

    Exiting Intel PXE ROM

    Non-System or disk error
Replace and press any key when ready.

Pressing a key will ofc give nothing more then “Disk boot failure”.

Has anyone had this problem before?

This normaly happens when either the BIOS is alter in a wrong way or the flash memory where the WTOS image is saved it corrupt or broken.
Try to first reset the BIOS to Default Settings.
If that does not help, open the box and check wether the flash module is inserted correctly.
Next try would be to reflash the unit using Wyse Simple Imager.
Last chance is to send the unit back to repair.

Tried that now but when I boot it now the unit seems not to get past the big white and yellow WYSE screen.
Pressing ctrl + alt + del will get me into bios but it asks for a bios password.. Are there any default bios passwords on these units since I can never remember setting any on it.

Thanks for the help so far 🙂

Thanks, I have access to the bios now.

Compared this V10L to one that does work and it’s supposed to boot from LS120 (I guess that’s the flash memory unit) but when I do indeed set it to that I get the System Disk error as described above.

So it’s rather safe I guess to say that’s something is mucked up with that module and if it’s indeed inserted correctly (At least I could not see any parts that looked to be wrongly inserted or had fallen out) I guess the final thing to try is a Reflash?

I did take a quick look at the PDF instructions and it seems to me like it’s a bit of an operation to get it done.

Try to reset the BIOS to defaults. There is no change to do manually.

Not sure I fully understood what you meant by “There is no change to do manually” (and you are prob aware of this already) but in BIOS all you have is “Load Optimized Defaults”.

It seems to reset BIOS even tho the wording could have been different.
Sadly there was no change so just in case I had got it all wrong I pulled the BIOS battery to make sure it was reseted.

    But again still no change.

Then it looks that either the flash module is corrupt or just the content is lost somehow.
Ask Wyse to give you an image file for your unit tha can be used with WSI (Wyse Simple Imager). It should be a *.i2d file and try reflashing the unit.
