    Hello all,
I have taken over what is becoming a mess from a previous employee. That and with myself not having any experience with Rapport/WDM, it makes for an interesting time.

    My questions are;
Is there a way to upgrade from Rapport 4.0 to WDM 4.5.x ?
The last person working on it was under the impression that there was something that needed to be purchased for this to happen smoothly.

Do I need to upgrade the clients to report to the new version of WDM and if so, would that upgrade be the Rapport HAgent that needs to be updated or will the older thin clients automatically report to the new version of WDM?

Our organization is currently using the older 3125’s and the 3150SE’s.
All of the thin clients are Windows CE .NET Image 406.5

I apologize for my lack of knowledge on this subject and if my questions don’t really make sense. I am confused and any help or direction would be greatly greatly appreciated.

You will need to upgrade to at least 4.4.1 before upgrading to 4.5.3. I hope this helps.

    Hi Cathedral,

Drudrewgizzy is correct you will need to upgrade in steps to get to the latest version but its ugly having to jump many steps.

Here is what I would do:

Check the licences in the Rapport Console, do they say “WorkGroup” or “Enterprise”. If they are enterprise and you want to keep the feature set you need to buy an upgrade to get the licence key.

For workgroup I would simply start from scratch and install a fresh copy of WDM and import you 3125 and 3150 images as this is far simpler than the upgrade. I like virtuslising WDM so it could be a good plan to put it into VMware or similar.

You need to do some test to see if the old Rapport client will talk to WDM 4.5.3, hopefully it does and the next step is to upgrade the client on the devices to the version that ships with WDM.

Finally there is you image’s 406 is old so what is your back end? Emulation, Terminal Server or Citrix?

    Cheers,
    -TT

    I appreiciate the insight.

All the licenses are workgroup licenses. And I really have no issues starting from scratch as it will help me become more familiar with the processes. Unfortunately, the old Rapport clients do not talk to the newer WDM, which is why I was curious to know if I could push the newer WDM client (from Rapport 4.0) to the devices still running the rapport client?

Our current back end is Citrix.

And on another note. Does anyone know where I can get the 4.4.1? (It was theorized*sp that the old clients still may repost to this version.) WYSE dosn’t have it anymore 🙄

    Thanks!

Man, you are on it! Can’t thank you enough. I will post sometime this week to let you know if this theory is true or not.

Hehe, no problem! You may want to check out this build doc as well:

After you upgrade to 4.4.1 (make a good backup first!) use the agent update package to get the clients up to date. If they have a Blue or Black icon use the Wyse Legacy Agent Upgrade or if they have a green icon use the Wyse Hagent Upgrade. Let us know how you get on,

    Cheers,
