I’m currently testing WDM 4.5.1 for a forthcoming rollout. I’ve installed WDM using an MSDE database and have two Wyse V90s on the network, these have been discovered with WDM and I can reboot the devices etc.

Where I’m having problems is getting the Updates down to the devices. I’ve downloaded the WDM_XP_Splash script from this site and have created a new package within package manager.

When I’ve created an update, the scheduled package just sits at In Progress and never completes.

Any help would be appreciated, I can’t seem to find any kind of logs for WDM either, where are these stored?

    Hi Neil,

First check the event logs on the sever for any Hagent or web agent errors. It sounds like the devices are not getting the message from the server. Also make sure Microsoft DEP is set to essential windows services only. (This artical has some stuff about dep:

In Report manager you can create a new log view and also under preferances you can bump up the log level to debug to see whats going on.

Let me know what you find,

    Cheers,

    Thanks for the help.

    In the event log:

    EventID 16

Unable to initialize the Repoort Management Software Web Server component. Either Rapport Web Server has not been installed or the Web Service is not configured properly. Please refer to the Rapport Help documentation for more information.

IIS has been installed without error, and the Rapport HTTP Server exists and contains 9 files.

From within WDM the log reports:

Web Service : Dispatch DB connect Failed.

DEP is now set to Essential Windows Services Only.

Sounds like it did not install correctly. Search this forum and there is a post about manually installing the Rapport4 service. I would try this and see if the error in the event log goes away.

    Cheers,

I’ve completely uninistalled WDM and IIS, before attempting a re-install I applied HF04041021605. After re-installation it all appears to be working now.

    Thanks again for your help.
