Due to corporate policy, we are not allowed to use FTP on the servers period.
Now that that’s out of the way. I was trying to upgrade these old s10’s we have from 3.3 to 3.7.
From what i’ve been told, they can ONLY be upgraded via FTP. So i decided to create a local FTP server with a spare switch we had here, completely off the network. I can’t seem to get the s10 to recognize the WDM though, i can ping both ways but it just wont connect. Any suggestions/alternatives?
The idea is to upgrade them to the latest firmware and then just attach it to the real wdm.
The reason I need to upgrade them is because as of right now, they can’t connect to terminal services.
Thanks!
July 26, 2011 at 8:34 am #20821You do not need a WDM server for that. Just install a FTP server, create a folder inetpub/ftprrot/wnos and copy the new firmware in that folder.
Now enter the IP address of the FTP server in the Fileserver field on the S10 and reboot. That’s all.Be aware that if you are upgrading to WTOS 7, the units will need to conteact the FTP server each time they start!!! But with WTOS 7 you can switch to http instead of ftp afterwards also.

July 27, 2011 at 2:13 pm #20832Hi Conf, I’ve successfully upgraded the units. However, how do I switch the S10’s from communicating via FTP to HTTP? I’ve pointed them to the actual file server, but it’s still trying to connect via FTP? Thanks!
July 29, 2011 at 8:04 am #20835Copy your wnos folder to your WWW server. Then enter http://ip_address_of_your_webserver in the Fileserver field of your S10.
You have to enter the prefix “http://” or otherwise ftp is used.CG

cannot access system profile
checking software http://wnos/rca_nos …August 6, 2011 at 1:26 pm #20866Is this really all you see in your log “http://wnos/rca_nos …”?
No IP or name of your webserver in this string?
What is your webserver log saying?CG
