I have created an image, with Rapport, that includes a factory9999.reg which locks the terminal down should it reset to factory defaults.(you need a password to enter the IP address)
I then used that image and created another image using a ‘setting.reg’ file to add a couple of connections on the Connection manager so as we roll out the new firmware we don’t need to rely on rapport to send the config.

The image is pulled down to the terminal using FTP upgrade method in the control panel

This process is working successfully on our 3125’s

When I try to do the same on out 3150’s after the upgrade I get the error ‘The application ‘hagent.exe’ failed to start’. If you ‘OK’ the error it continues onto the connection manager and none of the apps appear. (the terminal doesn’t seem to have reset to factory defaults as the IP details are still in the settings)

**NOTE: The firmware version is correct after the first attempt. I also can not send a config to the terminal as the agent has not started…

If I try to upgrade the terminal again via the same method and same image, it works fine.

I am trying to upgrade from 3150 Build 517.1 to Build 523.17

What is happening? Is there any way to stop this double handling of the terminal?

    Cheers,
    Ian

    Hi Ian,

This is caused by the hagent not unloading correctly during the upgrade proccess. I have seen this with older agents. I would upgrade the hagent on all the older firmware devices first before you then upgrade the image.

You could use the ftp upgrade method to upgrade the hagent. Just put it in the master ftp loaction and after a week or so all the terminals would have picked up the change and then put the whole image on the ftp server,

    Cheers,
    -TT

    Thanks again TT!!

This has fixed the error where the remote agent doesn’t start, but it still doesn’t recognise the factory9999.reg and the setting.reg file I added to the image.

I have also tried removing the Rapport addon before I upgrade, with the same result.

After the upgrade it had the old settings and was missing ‘MY’ defaults. so still had to resend the image…. very time consuming

Any idea why my defaults and initial setting did not take hold?

    Thanks
    Ian

    Hi,

Not sure I can help with your question but the firmware you are upgrading to is really old. Get the latest firmware with the matching addons and try again.

Also make sure the image you create the factory9999.reg/settings9999.reg on is exactly the same firmware as you will be bundling to send out or you will get wierd results…
