I recently managed to get a CE primer for build 590 for the S30 from Wyse, however after assuring me that they would also provide me with the latest versions of the add-ons I requested, the email they sent me simply told me to download them from their website.
Their website, of course, is very out of date when it comes to add-ons. So I am now stuck setting up new devices with a firmware package that is a newer build than the factory-installed firmware, but contains older versions of the add-ons than what is already on the WinTerm.
Since I can’t currently get the newest add-on builds on their own, is it possible in any way, shape or form to extract individual add-ons from a CE-based Wyse terminal or an official firmware bundle?
I understand that it is possible to back up files from a CE terminal to WDM using a script, but is there some way to also do the same with a firmware add-on?
Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Hi,
this is not possible. Although you can extract single files from a CE device using WDM, it is not possible to extract the whole addon.
I would send a new mail to Wyse or better respond to the last one, telling them that the website is outdated and you need the latest addon version. Best would be to list the addon versions that you found in the latest padded version.

Thank you for the information.
I spoke to Wyse again (a different representative this time) and he was able to get me the add-on versions I needed (and in the case of the ICA addon, newer than what I requested.)
