I’ve got an R90LE with a 120GB HDD (909535-45L). This appears to be the OEM drive configuration for this part number.

I got it with an unlicensed copy of XP SP3 occupying the single partition on the HDD, but I see it has the Wyse XPe license sticker.

When I try to install the B665 (R90R_S665_1024) image via USB thumb drive, it halts early after the imaging process starts. If I substitute a 2GB flash drive, imaging works just fine. The error message during attempted imaging of the 120GB HDD is:

ERROR: Error while validating BIOS file (error code: 216)
    ERROR STAGE: Media validation
REASON: File size on the package XML dose not match with the file size downloaded on the client. Downloaded BIOS file may be corrupt because of improper network connection.
    SOLUTION: Check the network <...>
    PACKAGE CONTENTS: <...>

It also corrupts the installer each and every time (except when successfully imaging the 2GB flash) so the thumb drive has to be re-prepped.

The BIOS is current. I have tried imaging just the BIOS + CMOS (success), and just the OS (it says success but proceeds much too fast and does nothing). I have tried deleting the partition on the HDD first (same failure), and also creating a 9GB NTFS primary partition on the HDD first (same failure).

I have tried every combination of the check boxes for partition management during thumb drive prep.

Does anyone know what’s going on?

You should try flashing the device via Wyse Device Manager.
