    Hi all,

I wanted to know is there any option for setting hostname/terminal name for the wyse V10L device. so that i can ping it using hostname/terminal rather than ip address.

    Hi,

the unit has already a name but WTOS does not autoregister its name on a DNS server. So you’d have to create the host entries on the DNS server yourself.
The name can be found in the Preferences and it normally WT008064xxxxxx.

As written above. The name is in the Preferences and can be changed there, of course.

    Hi,

If you use a Microsoft DHCP server, and the terminal name is set using TerminalName=TERM-NAME in an .ini file, then the MS DHCP server will pick up the name of the terminal. You can then configure your MS DHCP server to auto-register host names with DNS (right-click, properties ont he DHCP server – don’t forget to assign credentials to your DHCP server that have rights to create/modify DNS records).

    Hope this helps.
    Paul.

Not sure if there is an issue but pah250 is just explaining how it is working with a MS DHCP server. That does not mean that a Cisco DHCP cannot do that.
