We bought some used Wyse 3040’s off ebay, and I am trying to configure them.  The very first one, and I suspect the rest, will not boot.  It also needed a  new battery, which I replaced.  But after doing that I found there is no boot device being detected.  In the BIOS I cannot see the “disk” anywhere.  But when I ran diagnostics the little test that ran gave the impression that there was a drive in there somewhere.

I haven’t been able to figure out how to reconfigure it to boot (yet).  I am going to try the usb image tool … but I have never used this before, or had a Wyse that didn’t boot in this way.  It is definitely a head scratcher for me.

my question is two fold – were some 3040’s sold as diskless?  shouldn’t this have some onboard “disk” to have an OS run from?

Assuming there is a disk and the device has just been configured to boot over the network .. how do I get it back?

    Thank you

Happy to report the USB image tool did the trick.  Pulled an image from one of our normal Wyse 3040’s and applied it to the ebay purchased one, and voila!
