    Hi,

I’m currently getting ready to deploy some new terminals (hooray 🙂 ) and I was hoping to import their name and mac address into WDM and deploy my custom image to said terminals. I know that the terminal name is stored on a hidden partition on each machine, but it doesn’t seem to get updated by WDM during imaging, instead using the default terminal name of WES and overwriting the name in WDM that I set when I imported it (i.e. once the terminal boots into WES7 it reports to the WDM server and says its name is WES). Ideally what I’d like to be able to do is to import the terminals with their correct names and mac addresses into WDM, deploy the image to these terminals, and have WDM force the name change during imaging. I’m currently toying with the idea of making some sort of app to run on WinPE to connect to the WDM database to achieve this, but I’d really like to get this as automated as I can, rather than having manual steps like having to boot into WinPE to do a database lookup. Does anyone know of someway for me to achieve my goal?

    Cheers

The only thing you would have to do is, prep your image correctly.
Before pulling your image you would have to run windowssetupprep4man.bat
This will delete the name of the unit out of the hidden partition and the new name issued by WDM should stick.
