Hi,
All my V50 and V50LE units are having trouble with the early DST change in NSW. I’ve edited my wlx.ini file as per below but it has no effect, the time hasn’t moved forward an hour. All the units are running OS version 6.4.0 build 19.
TimeZone=”AEDT” ManualOverride=yes daylight=yes start=100107 end=040107
I got the ManualOverride parameter from an earlier post by ThinkThin, but it doesn’t seem to be working for me.
Any help would be appreciated
cheers,
AdrianOctober 15, 2008 at 7:03 am #14124Use this parameter instead:
TimeZone=AEDT ManualOverride=1 daylight=1

October 16, 2008 at 12:42 am #14135Thanks for the reply ConfGen, unfortunately that makes no difference either.
I can work around the problem by setting the timezone to GMT+11 but it’s not going to work as a permanent solution. I’ve logged a call with Wyse support, hopefully they can come up with something.cheers,
AdrianOctober 16, 2008 at 6:49 am #14140Please keep me/us updated.
Maybe Wyse creates a new parameter and I would love to incorporate it then in my tool.CG
October 23, 2008 at 1:40 am #14196Wyse support finally contacted me regarding this issue, the response is listed below:
“As for DST Linux issues we have an engineering request open for a new build (which will be a 6.5 build) to resolve the known Australian DST issues.”
Unfortunately they don’t address the problem with the ManualOverride parameter not working, and there’s no indication of when this build will be available. They have promised to send me a link to the build when it is ready. so I’ll post that when I receive it.
cheers.
AdrianFebruary 25, 2009 at 1:40 am #15257Hi, Just an update on this issue. Wyse failed to fix the Australian DST issue in release 6.5.2_02 and now advises…
“Dear Linux Customers,
The Australian Daylight Savings Patch for Linux has unfortunately been delayed to be released in March 2009. This will be released in time to be implemented prior to the next Daylight Savings change. I apologise for any issues you might have experienced this year and hope that all is now going well.”
I thought the apology was amusing, they really haven’t paid much attention to this problem. Here’s hoping the patch does arrive in time to be deployed prior to the end of DST this year in Sydney, which is the first Sunday in April.
cheers,
AdrianFebruary 25, 2009 at 2:31 am #15258Hi,
The setting:
TimeZone=”AEDT” ManualOverride=yes daylight=yes start=100107 end=040107
Only applies to the WTOS devices. Linux holds its own time zone database, the only way to change this is by exporting this database and using a tool called “zic” to modify the start/end dates. This is not really something you would want to do yourself.
Be aware by setting the timezone forward you may have problems with calendar appointments set after the change to AEST. If possible turn off timezone re direction for the Linux clients and allow them to use the server time until you have a fix,
Cheers,

See half way through this artical on zdump and zic usage – I have done this in 2007 and it works:
