I’m having an issue getting a custom wallpaper and logo to set on the Wyse 3040 (8.6_303) using WMS. Is there something I’m missing or special that needs to be done? I’m doing the following:
Upload image file to Apps & Data > File Repository > Inventory for both Wallpaper and Logo
ThinOS Policy > Visual Experience > Desktop Wallpaper > Enable wallpaper
ThinOS Policy > Visual Experience > Desktop File > Wallpaper file name from Repository is selected
ThinOS Policy > Visual Experience > Wallpaper Layout > Center
ThinOS Policy > Visual Experience > Company Logo > Checked
ThinOS Policy > Visual Experience > Logo File > File name from Repository is selected

May 20, 2020 at 5:48 pm #52300It simply doesn’t set. All I can get to work is a solid color, DELL default wallpaper (8.6+), and Wyse default wallpaper (8.6+). The defaults are available from the drop down menu.

May 20, 2020 at 6:59 pm #52305Nope. Not seeing anything for wallpaper there in the WMS.INI. Is there a parameter I can set for the global.ini on my ThinOS config up on the WMS server to force this?
May 20, 2020 at 7:53 pm #52306I had an issue awhile ago with the name length of the file and also had to convert it from PNG to JPG, it was a few firmware revisions ago. I would convert it to jpg to reduce its size and shorten the name to ensure there isn’t a character limitation you’re hitting.
Was this working previously?
May 20, 2020 at 8:23 pm #52307No, I haven’t been able to get this to work yet. I had already tried PNGs, JPGs, and BMPs.
May 22, 2020 at 8:06 pm #52317I’ve also tried a factory reset on this 3040 and it just won’t set the background or logo. We just got the 5070 in and it’s working as expected.
May 22, 2020 at 8:19 pm #52318As the background parameter is not found in the WMS.ini locally on the client, I suspect that the client is either in the wrong policy group or there is an override in the machine exceptions.

May 22, 2020 at 8:45 pm #52319Looks like it was the device group. Not sure what happened, but I removed all groups and put both the 3040 and 5070 in the Default Device Policy Group and it working properly now. Thank you for that.
