Hi,
we have few 5010 D10D connected to an old WDM server (2012 R2).
I want to install a new server (2019) and on it the new WMS 2.1 to replace the old one.
Our 5010 are with FW 8.3 and as i saw the WMS 2.1 supports FW 8.5/8.6 so i believe I’ll need to upgrade the FW before migrating them to WMS !?
How can it be done the easier way ? can the FW upgrade done from the old WDM system ?
Any suggestions ?
Our WDM in on prem and we want to use WMS on prem – I believe its also free for use like the old WDM ?
Thanks

2. Firmware update should be done before moving to WMS. You can do this in the same way as in the past. Drop the firmware in the wnos folder on your WDM or Fileserver and reboot the clients.CG
July 12, 2020 at 3:30 pm #52602Hi,
I did everything according to the manuals and nothing helps – the unit isn’t upgraded.
I use WDM 5.7 and wish to upgrade 5010-D10D from version 8.3_012 to version 8.6_024 that i downloaded as a bin file from Dell.
Tried as instructed with the upgrade to put the bin file on the WNOS folder – not working.
I’ve didn’t found any way to upload the bin file to the WDM server and deploy it from the server side.
The upgrade is needed before we move from WDM to WMS.
Any help will be appreciated.

Do you have a wnos.ini file along with the firmware file?
The name of the firmware file has to be ZD10_wnos. No extension. If your file is named .bin then it looks like the BIOS and not firmware.
Does you client pick up the wnos.ini file at all?
Post your wnos.ini.CG

For the beginning I’ll download now the ZD10_wnos file and try the process with this file.
I presume I’ve should download the file: “ThinOS 8.6_412 English Raw Image” (that is the ZD10_wnos file) !?
I’ll let you know.

July 12, 2020 at 4:19 pm #52608Worked like a charm
but
Now the thinClient asks for user & password something that wasn’t needed before the upgrade (this thinClient is used as singe and needs to auto logon to the ThinOS)
I presume it’s a new property needed on the wnos.ini file !?

July 13, 2020 at 6:15 am #52614Hi,
the logon request is not by the terminal server but from the ThinOS so that setting is not handling the issue.
I can manual login to the ThinOS with guest account and it’s proceeds and makes the terminal logon.
July 13, 2020 at 7:14 am #52615Well,
Searching the “Configuration Generator” and on the “ThinOS_8.5.1_INIGuide” led me to some checks and finely adding the next settings:
SignOn=No (as was set before)
DefaultUser=guest
Password=
That did the trick.
Now I can upgrade all my ThinOS before moving to WMS.
If I have more ThinOS in boxes, should I leave the WDM so I can upgrade the firmware in the future ?
Regards,
