I have a few devices that have been removed from service for one reason or another and I am unable to remove them from the device manager. When I try to delete them I get the message “Client can not be deleted due to pending updates”. I get this message using the delete as well as the force delete option. I am running WDM Workgroup edition version 4.9.1 Build 227 on server 2008 R2.

Anything in the “Scheduled packages” section?

    No scheduled tasks at all.

Download the “SQL Queries Tool” from this site, connect it to your DB and check if it shows any sheduled packages there.

Old topic, but I wanted to post my resolution for anyone else who stumbles upon it.

    -Launch WDM
-Expand “Update Manager” in the tree
    -Select “real time commands”
-Delete all queued commands in the right hand pane

It seems that commands against stale device entries were the most common cause in our case. Until the queue is empty, new delete commands will not process.

    Hope this helps!

Thanks for taking the time to come back and post that. Found it most helpful tonight.
