I just discovered ConfGen will encrypt username/password for RDP and ICA connections.

This is great, but I was further curious on a couple things.

WTOS_INI documentation supports these two commands, but it makes no further mention on how to encrypt them.

    1. Is ConfGen the only way to encrypt username/passwords
    2. What type of encryption is it?
    3. Is there any way to provide similar type of encryption for the FTP password on WTOS thin clients?

    TIA.

Good question, and i really don’t know how Confgen is doing it but i use he’s config tool for editing my wnos.ini and Wyse documentation for more details for each parameters.

But i guess he has some healthy business relationship with Wyse 😛

1 – Yes for me at least
    2 – Can’t answer this one 🙁
3 – Don’t you make your FTP connection using the default userid (anonymous) ? Or do you use the DHCP ID 184/185.

You can rely on this 😉

    1. There is also a tool available from Wyse but it is not posted anywhere and it does much less than ConfGen can do for you.
    2. no comment
    3. there isn’t a way to do this and it would not make sense at all. FTP credentials are always send in cleartext format over the network.
