Hi,
I can’t get printers/scanners to work using “Redirect All USB devices”, even though the RDSH server detects the printers, and USB flash drives are working.
– WMS Config under “General Session Settings” and “Microsoft RDP Settings”:
All Mappings “except sound” are unchecked/disabled.
Enable USB Redirection is set to “Redirect All USB devices”.
USB Redirection Technology is set to “RDP”.– The printers/scanner I’m testing are:
Zebra ZDesigner TLP 2844
HP LaserJet 200 (Using HP Universal Print Driver)
Canon DR-C230 (scanner)– Client:
Wyse 3040 running ThinOS v8.6– Server:
VM RDSH Windows 2019, with GPO “Do not allow supported Plug and Play device redirection” set to “Disabled”.Can anyone tell me why it’s not working?
Thanks.

This is what in the event log after connecting (nothing else is added when I try to print and get an error):
19:08:12.643 RDP: Start session to RDS.local
19:08:12.668 RDP: Connect to RDS.local …
19:08:12.683 RDP: create network detection channel
19:08:12.724 RDP: create UDP transportation

19:08:13.658 USB: Found a new 480Mbps device “WYSE VUSB” on port 4
19:08:13.658 VUSB: redirect device 3 (PID: 0x132a, VID: 0x03f0)

Should I configure the printer in the ThinClient itself “Printer Name, ID, Class, enable/disable”? (even though I’ve tried that without success …)
April 1, 2020 at 11:22 am #52015I would not redirect the printer via USB. RDP can do that natively.
Exclude Printers from USB redirection and check “Map Printers”.
Now enter the correct PrinterID. This would be the printer driver name on the RDSH host. Universal Printer Drivers are not working. You have to use the correct printer driver.Scanner is a different thing. This should work via USB redirection.

April 1, 2020 at 12:33 pm #52017Hello CG,
Why not redirect printers via USB?
UPD works with RDP redirection “Map Printers”, but it does not detect this model (HP LaserJet 200) as colored, and I can’t manually set it to colored because the printer’s “Device Settings” tab is greyed out even in an Admin account (probably because it’s redirected).
April 6, 2020 at 4:49 pm #52049I was wrong. USB redirection for a printer works typically fine. Mixed it up with audio/video.
