I have a WMS 1.3 environment (3040’s and 5070’s), where we configure our workstations by Groups and Configs. My IT staff across the country set up devices by accessing the Central Configuration of the Wyse, and entering the WMS server settings.

After some Firmware and Bios upgrades pushed out this summer (3040 update to 8.6_027 and 1.2.4, 5070 update to 8.6_013 and 1.1.4), I have a number of workstations that refuse to accept any configuration.

    We have tried:

    – different groups (so, different Group Registration Key)

    – WMS server address by name or IP

    – WMS server address by https and http (we are set to accept both)

    – ports or no ports on the address

    – reset to factory with admin reboot, with G key, with accessing the Bios and clearing the drive, by deleting the installed package and rebooting

    – I’ve downloaded the (old) Dell Wyse USB Imaging Tool, though I’m stymied because it looks for a RSP file, which I don’t have.

No matter what we try with this handful of workstations, we can’t get them to accept configuration. The error is always the same, “Unable to contact the WMS Server. Please inform your WMS IT Admin!”

Does anyone have any bright ideas?

Have you tried to fully (!) delete these devices from WMS and let the devices then check in again?
    Do they check in correctly?

I have, and they do not. Even removing them from WMS, leaving them a period of time, then trying to re-register them as new devices doesn’t help.

How did you remove them from WMS?
Just deleted them or deleted AND removed from the Devices view „Not registered“?

You really ARE a Jedi. I hadn’t realized that the entries in ‘not registered’ were there (unregistered machines can’t connect with our setup).  Deleting from there and waiting a few minutes allowed me to add the device again.

    Thanks for the help!
