Hello,
I’m setting up a new WDM (Ver 5.5.1) and Dell D10D Units in our organization and have two issues with the DCHP Options Tags.
I want to configure the maximum settings needed from the DHCP server side.
* I’ve configured Option 162 (FTP Folder) to WTOSCONFIG but on the Thin-Client it appends /wyse to the path that results in error connecting the server.
My server path to the ini files is c:\inetpub\ftproot\Rapport\WTOSCONFIG\WNOS
My workaround was:
1. Change on the WDM WTOS Preferences to WTOSCONFIG/wyse.
2. Create wyse folder under WTOSCONFIG and move to that folder the WNOS folder.
That workaround is working but I need to know if its legal and won’t cause me any problems in the future – upgrading, flashing, distributing packages etc.
* I need to configure the FTP Username and Password (Options 184 & 185) but this will lead to security issue cause the password is in plain text.
Is there any way to change that ?
Thank you very much in advance.
1. change the value of OT 162 to “WTOSCONFIG$”. This will eliminate the /wyse folder
2. OT 184&185 are both plain text. No way around. If this does not work for you, change to http or https

Thanks,
Solutions 1 is working perfectly so I’ve rolled back any workaround changes that I’ve made and mentioned in my initial message.
For the OT issue:
I’m using a single server as the WDM witch holds the web server and the ftp server and currently I’m using the following OT:
161, 162, 184, 185, 186, 190 (Secure Port 443)
If I’ll drop the 184,185 OT the client will unable to get the WNOS file ! how can I override this so I wont need to reveal the FTP password in the DHCP server ?

To use http instead of ftp, you have to name the protocol in the OT161 like “http://my_fileserver”
Also make sure that the needed MIME settings are created for “.” and “.ini”
