I have the smilar issue running Wyse 3040 with ThinOS 2205. I had the issue in earlier versions as well. I have specified the resolution to be 1920 x 1080 on both screens. The issue occurs for us when the unit is woken from having been idle for a while and the screens are in sleep mode.

I have been restarting the entire client when the issue occurs, but thanks to your tip I now only have to turn the display off an on again. However, I would like to have this issue fixed. After over a year of testing ThinOS 9 and fixing out the quirks we finally deployed in production last week and this issue pops up.

Are you using smartcards to sign in?

@schurmb I would be very interested if there is something different in the configurations as @brian1020 says. We only have a local storefront and are experiencing this error still.

I still have the same issue with 9.1.6108 and the Citrix package v21.12.0.18.3. I still have not upgraded my production enviroment from ThinOS 8.6 because of this.

To be honest I am very disappointed with ThinOS 9.1.3 as well. My 3040-clients running it as a test are crashing or shutting down by themselves for no reason. The Citrix client freezes sometimes during smart card authentication. We tried if skipping Citrix in favour of RDS would make things better, but since there is no support for smart card redirection in the WVD/RDS client in ThinOS 9 we quickly abandoned that plan as well. Migration to ThinOS 9 is still on halt waiting for newer and hopefully more stable releases from Dell. We are still on 8.6 in our production environment.

Are you using RDS/WVD? We had this issue in RDS/WVD, but not in Citrix. When we contacted Dell about it we got the answer that smart card redirection is not supported by the RDS/WVD-package. If we wanted support we needed to submit a feature request. 😛

My logs look similar, but I am not using Azure, but a “local” server.

No, this is in Citrix, so not i WVD or RDS-setup. It is the “native” ThinOS login screen. What happens is that when the client starts you briefly see the text “Starting broker sign-on”. And then it waits for credentials. If the client stands idle for a while (less than 30 minutes) and you try login it says the session has expiered. If you instead press escape, you trigger the screen to again “Starting broker sign-on” which means that the ThinOS client probably gets a new session from the broker and thus sign in works.

Yes, that is a way to abort the expiered session and allow login. But this is an unwanted behavour. I cannot have my users pressing escape every time they login to trigger a new valid session with the broker. Why is the session promted directly after the last user has logged out? This should be done after the user has entered their credentinals in my opinion.

This issue still persists with ThinOS 9.1.2021 and the latest Citrix package unfortunately.

Yes, I tried to redirect the smart card manually without success. The clients smart cards work fine in Citrix, but when I connect with RDP to the same server it does not work. I upgraded to the latest release of both ThinOS and WVD-packages released yesterday, but it did not fix the issue. Trying smart card authentication to the AD also works fine with the Citrix broker, but when changed to the RDS-broker I just get a login error with the smart cards. And after password authentication the cards are not redirected to the session.

I had the problem that the VDI desktop changed the keyboard to another language, so I set the terminal server to ignore remote keyboard layout by creating a GPO to change the registry key according to this link. I don’t know if that is why AltGr works with my Swedish keyboard layout in my VDI desktop also.

When the login screen comes up it says “Starting broker sign-on” for a second and then “Waiting for credentials to login”. This means that a session is started when the login screen is shown. If I look in the logs of the client it says [StoreFront] user authorize ” https://serveradress/Citrix/Authentication/ExplicitForms/Start ” This means that a session is created when the login screen is shown and if the user does not sign in within a short while after this the sessoin expires and the user has to sign in twice. NetScaler is not used for our direct connections so using  the setting for “Direct External Connection to the NetScaler/ADC (no beacons being used)” did not change this. How can I change this behaviour of the client? In 8.6 the session was not started until the users entered their credentials.

I also have issues with resolution settings beeing ignored on my 3040 units with 9.1. Fast disconnect does not work either. AltGr-key seams to be working for me, with my swedish keyboard settings. Are you referring to the keyboard in ThinOS or in your remote desktop?
