How do you change the vnc password on a Xpe 941g wyse device?
What all changes in the registry do you need. the user and administrator and default password from WDM.

I need to change the administrator local user password. The files listed in the test case changes only the defoult user and User. The Administrator password stays and is not changed.
Is there a MR verb discription on the usernames values and what they change? Something like MR “vncpass_admin.reg” “Administrator”

    You have it exactly!

Have a look at the registry keys in the package. Now on your terminal manually set the VNC password and then export the new password hash from the registry. You can use this to make your own package to change the User and Administrator value.

You will also not a change in the HKLM section of the registry, this is so you can VNC with a password when the unit is log logged in.

I do not know about the User but the Administrator password change is important. Administrator id in the registry is something like HKEY_USERSS-1-5-21-640228141-1465013016-1844936127-9083
You just update using this key for adminiatrator? I s ths wah tyou mean?

Just login as an admin and change the the VNC password. Now export the password hash from HKCurrentUser.
To import it later via WDM script use MR “your_exported_password_hash.reg” “Administrator”

The “Administrator” setup does not work on sp2 Xpe build. All the other vnc passwords change but the local administrator password does not. Is there any way to change the administrator password from wdm?

So you are saying that you can change the VNC password for the user but not for the administrator?

All the other vnc passwords change but the local administrator password does not. When logged inb as the local user the vnc password is changed but the administrator vnc password remains unchanged.

    Hi,

The only way I can see this not working is if the location of the password is someplace else for the Administrator. Check the registry and confirm the location of the password hash for this user,

Hello mugwamp, I had this issue with my V90LE’s when i first installed the lastest firmware. I found that the VNC password info was stored at HKCUSoftwareORLWinVNC3 for each user. I could change the password but I couldnt get it to stick after a reboot for Administrator.

What I did to correct this:
    – created a 2nd Administrator account
    – made the VNC changes to the 2nd Administrator’s profile
    – copied 2nd administartor profile to .Default User profile
    – deleted both Administartor profiles
    – deleted 2nd Administartor account

Next time I logged in as Administrator, the changes took effect.
