What: 2nd hand X90LE purchased in good condition from ebay. USB booting was OK, however the seller ignored my email requesting the BIOS password (for future reference).
How(it broke): I killed XPe because I didn’t understand that I couldn’t install the Comodo firewall. I was booting Fedora from USB by pressing escape, now the boot device menu either won’t appear or it appears for just enough time for my brain to see it flashing. Also, I am suddenly unable to load the BIOS menu, and the ebay seller had already been ignoring my request for the password. Also, using the F8 menu before Windows fails does nothing useful.
Why(did you buy this thing anyway): I wanted my second computer to be second hand and portable, but with a good keyboard. I wanted an energy efficent computer. I wanted the security of of usb enviornments(Fedora and Knoppix had already been tested). The Wyse mobile gave me these things in one device!
How to help me: I’m guessing that all of this is happening because I screwed up XPe. I don’t care about getting windows back. Can someone tell me what’s going wrong here. Can it be fixed, is it complicated or am I just ignoring the obvious? I really hope that I didn’t destroy this thing. I don’t really see how I could have.
Well it looks like I forgot that BIOS is F2, and I got the password from this site, so technically everything is working ok now.
