    I can install add ins on to the X50L and D50D by going to ‘Add on Manager’ and selecting the add on I want from the list. This works fine.

    I don’t understand from the Wyse Administrator Guide Issue 120914 (REV H) appendix A how you actually get the add on to automatically install when the terminal boots up.

    It seems to be saying you use the ini file parameter ‘update.mode’ and the terminal will automatically install the add ons. Is this right? I cannot get it to work. I cannot see how you ‘tell’ the Wyse terminal which package you want it to install.

    So , for example, I have an add on called ‘Myapp’. I can see it in the list on Add-on manager and if I put a tick in it , I can install it manually. But what if I don’t want to install it manually? I want to install on hundreds of terminals!

    You can use Update.Mode=both or =Addons to either install/update new firmware and addons or only addons.
    But that is not enough.
    You also need
    NewAddons=MyApp,MyApp2,MyApp3,…
    This parameter defines the addon to be installed from the folder /addons on your ftp server
    In this folder you also the file “directory” which list all addons to be installed, but I guess you already have this as it is also needed for installing addons via Addon-Manager.

    Thanks very much!

    Wyse don’t seem to make any mention of this parameter anywhere in their documents. maybe it is a secret 😀 ?

    On page 20 in the INI Guide you’ll find:

    InstallAddons= Specifies addons to install. Use comma separated add-on
    names.
    Note that you can use InstallAddons= or NewAddons= for
    the parameter name (the names are interchangeable).

    Oh right – thank you. My mistake.

    You can’t always find what you want in those ini reference guides.

    Thanks again.
