Hi all,
I’m trying to upgrade the firmware on our WYSE V90 terminal with (DHCP turbo and WSI) both of the software are installed on a stand alone PC firewall is off, IP 10.1.1.12 for the PC DHCP is running ok. The pc and the WYSE is connected to a switch and I’ve done the setup on the WSI (submit the firmware , I can see the message to start/restart the wyse terminal etc).
The wyse winterm can see the DHCP and in the bios the first device is LAN but when i reboot the Wyse all it does it shows that
Client IP : 10.1.1.1, DHCP IP : 10.1.1.12 MASK: 255.255.255.0 and Proxy IP : 10.180.26.25Auto-select :
Rapport PXE
UD 10.180.26.25
PXE-E11: ARP timeoutand it boots up from the local system…
What am I doing wrong ?
Thank you very much for any help

April 20, 2007 at 5:03 pm #9488Do you have a hub or a crossover cable you can try? I think the switch might be causing you problems.
April 21, 2007 at 6:06 am #9492Hi Sydbourne,
Thanks for posting the logs, notice the “Proxy IP : 10.180.26.25”. This is the IP address the unit received of the PXE server – it should be 10.1.1.12 if that’s what your PC with WSI was set to.
If you are on an network it could be its getting a response from anouther PXE server. This also happens if you installed WSI while your PC had that address and changed the IP later.
I would get a crossover cable and make sure it is plugged into the unit and active and then uninstall dhcp turbo and WSI and install them both again. This should get it going, yes its a pain i know!
BTW – welcome to the forums!

I didn’t know why is the proxy IP address is different but I’ll try the crossover cable and let you guys know if I succeed !
Thanks for your help again!

April 23, 2007 at 11:54 am #9502You guys are the best , I’ve actually replaced the switch with a very simple one (Netgear 5port – I’ll try the crossover cable as well tomorrow) and now it’s working it starts up from the server.
I can see the log details in TFTPD32 but no logs in the WSI log messages windows, and it seems that it’s doing circles, rebooting the device all the time. There are loads of commands and messages running on the Wyse screen and suddenly it stops about 50 seconds from the boot. The last message I can see is:
Evaluating :
‘ftp//anonymus:[email protected]/Rapport…./9v90/push.k to stream/sec/test’and it reboots the terminal (I’ve tried another wyse box and it’s doing the same thing.)
In the TFTPD log window there is a message
Peer returns ERROR Aborting transfer. That’s my first Wyse configuration (I guess you guys can see that 🙂 and I have no idea what can be the problem but I’m trying to figure it out, and I would really appreciate your help.
Thanks!

April 23, 2007 at 2:52 pm #9505In the meantime I’ve found the problem , I needed to configure the FTP Internet services manager and change the config on TFTPD32, now it’s ok, but and the end I got an error message in the Log Messages window saying that the firmware is not compatible.
I’ve got a (VX0) V90 Dual Wyse XPe terminal and I’ve downloaded the V90XPe Firmware (XPe 3.04_503 9V90_S503_256.exe) for it.. don’t really know what is the problem.
Also I would like to try to “pull” an image from the wyse and I’ve seen a great forum here how to do it.Do I have to change anything in TPTP if I want to pull the image ?
My settings are the following :
Setup TFTPD32.EXE
Configuration
Settings Menu
TFTP Security = None
TFTP Configurationtimeout = 3
TFTP ConfigurationMAX Retransmit = 40000
TFTP ConfigurationTFTP Port = 69
Base Directory = Note: = Rapport Toolssa
Advanced TFTP Options Option Negotiation = Enabled
Advanced TFTP Options All Other Options = Disabled
Global Settings TFTP Server = Enabled
Global Settings All Other Options = DisabledThanks!
April 23, 2007 at 9:22 pm #9509Hi Sydbourn,
That looks like the wrong firmware – see the “9V90” this is for the older V90.
You will need the V90L firmware and load it up as a “9V92”. Also make sure you are using the latest WSI v 1.1.4,
Nearly there!

April 24, 2007 at 9:50 am #9511I would like to say a big THANK YOU for you think thin!!!! Everything is working now , the firmware update was successful and the imaging is working perfectly now it was the version difference, as you said it’s not 9V90 it’s the 9V92 version, the annoying thing is it’s written on the Wyse box that is V90!
Thanks again for this professional help!

April 24, 2007 at 11:42 am #9514That’s great news!
Glad I could help, PXE issues can be hard to solve in a forum but you really helped yourself by posting all the screen and log details as well as persisting.
In IT we can’t win them all but its nice we did this time! I hope your deployment goes well…
