We have purchased many of the Dell 3040 Wyse ThinOS with PCoIP and  have been running into an issue with firmware upgrades on these devices.  The issue is that when the 3040’s upgrade to a new firmware, the PCoIP package is not upgrading with it.  When this happens, the PCoIP package is at the same version as the previous firmware and when a user tries to connect to a VMware Desktop Pool, a window launches and hangs on “Connecting to ‘DesktopPool'”.  It will never connect.

This is really strange as the PCoIP package is part of the firmware and should be extracted after the upgrade on the next boot.
Did you see the expanding process after the boot?

Yes, I saw both the base.i386.pkg and pcoip.i386.pkg extract.  It looked like they loaded but it doesn’t make sense that the PCoIP Package still shows as the previous firmware version.

The only way I have found to fix this is changing the version of firmware on the FTP share, verify autoload=1 and reboot the device , or do a firmware upgrade via USB.

From my understanding is that you can’t force a specific PCoIP pkg through the INI file.  The only way to update the package is to do a firmware upgrade which has the PCoIP pkg included with the base pkg.

As for our d10 ThinOS with PCoIP devices, we never had this issue.  Only occurred with the 3040’s that we purchased.
