    Same.

Just upgraded to 9.1.6108 on my test machines last week at the advice of Dell to try and fix 2 other issues (Dell soundbars not working and inactive vs idle timeout)

Do we have any hints as to what’s causing this? I was just about to recommend that we start rolling these out. :-/ (And we’re down to our last 15 ish 8.6 devices)

I have tested it with a brand new Optiplex 3000, the error message does not appear, but it also hangs sporadically for a few minutes and nothing reacts.

I tested it with 5070 and also the error. Did you get a solution from Dell?

Haven’t seen that error at all. Have you tried a factory reset?

I think I remember getting this once and having to reimage the thin client. Have you tried that?

    Hi Brian and Chris,

I test a lot for onboarding and always reset the devices to factory settings. The error does not always occur, but I have had it 6 times now when setting up 30 devices. I thought it was a general problem because others have also written about it. Otherwise, it could be a special setting, of course, the devices hang up during the initial setup via the WMS.

    Best regards

One thing you can try is resetting to factory on the device and then in WMS do a full removal by selecting Unregister on the device and then when searching devices search devices by “Not Registered” value in WMS and select the device and choose Delete. This removes the WMS object and potentially any device level settings you may be unaware of.

When I run into oddities like this I do a device wipe and full removal from WMS.  Some times device objects in the WMS database get corrupt and Deleting them fully from WMS before registering again can resolve the issue.

@Brian1020 this is exactly how I do it, but the error still occurs, but I am currently testing NDES / SCEP with Thin OS 9.16. this may also cause problems I have also discovered others

@Wulfgari that’s a great practice and glad you’re doing that.

The only other thing I would suggest, because Dell will probably tell you to do it if you open a case; wipe the device from the BIOS, just kill everything, rebuild from the USB imaging tool. Obviously that’s not how you want to manage a fleet of devices that get this message and you’ve had 6 out of 30 devices get it, not a good start, but I have a feeling that’s what will be suggested if you open a case.

If it’s easily reproduced, turn on debug logging and export to USB, happy to help pick through logs, I weirdly have a love for root cause analysis and happy to help out.

Also did you update the bios to the latest for 9.1.6? I have a fleet of various bios versions and trying to get them all up to the latest.

@brian1020 it is probably only a Vmware VDI problem with 9.1.6. and not Citrix. There is a long loop it constantly tries to reach the VDI broker which does not work with 802.1x onboarding, only after installing the SCEP Certificate and reboot the TC. It especially affects the low performance 3040, the Optiplex 3000 gets away with it but still hangs for about 1-2 minutes which is not the case with 9.1.5.

@brain1020 I might need them soon because of a changeover to a new NDES server with https 😉 .
Would be great if you write me a mail and we exchange, the is “Nickname”@web.de thank you

    best Regards,

    Wulfgari
