Hello we have update the clients with the new firmware 9.1.1131 and the paket Citri_workspace_app_20.12.0.12_1. Also we have update the bios to version 1.2.5.
Now the sessions with teams are working most times fine.
But now we have the problem to connect with vnc to the devices. Sometimes it works shortly, but most of the it doesn´t work.
We start the connection and vnc ask us the passwort, but then the connection is refused.
We have tried with dameware, realvnc, tighvnc and via browser from the wms server.
VNC says: Unknown security result from server. Do you wish to reconect to x.x.x.x?
Realvnc says: RFB protocol error: invalid security result 16777216 from server
Can anyone help me?
February 10, 2021 at 5:43 pm #72887In WMS policy for Services>>VNC I put the IP address of the machine I am connecting from in the VNCD Server Field and also specify the VNCD TCP Port of 5900. Also Enable VNC Prompt is active, Select Timeout Type = Accept, Timeout =10. I’ve been able to connect from the US to ThinOS 9.1 test devices we have in Hong Kong across our corporate network without issue.
February 10, 2021 at 6:14 pm #72910Hello
i have set the port and the ip adress, but the problem is still the same.
February 11, 2021 at 4:32 pm #73508We had this issue as well and found that our password did not meet the requirements for the new firmware. We had to set a new password that met the requirements and it worked after that.
February 11, 2021 at 4:58 pm #73513February 15, 2021 at 5:27 pm #76324I downgrade to 8.6 and after that i upgrade to 9.04 and the to 9.11. I test it on two devices. It works, but i hope the update will come and fix it.
March 17, 2021 at 11:41 pm #96874I have been looking everywhere in Dell’s support documentation and cannot find anywhere what the VNC password complexity requirements are for ThinOS 9.1.
To quote from a previous post:
“We had this issue as well and found that our password did not meet the requirements for the new firmware. We had to set a new password that met the requirements and it worked after that.”
What are these new requirements please? For some reason I just cannot find them anywhere!
Thanks in advance!

March 23, 2021 at 5:14 pm #100888Thank you for confirming the password requirements ConfGen!
I just double-checked my password and it does meet the criteria, so at least I know for sure that lack of password complexity that is not the root cause of my VNC connection issues.
June 10, 2021 at 10:32 pm #105565Had the same problem after upgrade to 9.x. I can start the VNC connection for a few minutes after a restart, if I tried after the device is running for a few hours they don’t connect.
After I update the password to the required criteria (at least one uppercase, one lowercase one number) and MUST be eight characters long, I have no more VNC connection issue.
