Hi Forum/Thomas,
In a project for our factory we wish to connect a fairly new Dell P2418HT Touch Screen monitor to the Wyse 3040 for easy CAD/PDF viewing. This set up is just great because of the form factor and is beneficial in comparison to having an EloTouch All in one for us for half of the cost and the P2418 having a bigger screen.
At first the requirement for this touchscreen project was multitouch and found out that Windows 8 client or newer (RDP v10) was required for multitouch, so as a proof of concept, i bought an Wyse 5020 with Windows 10 IOT Enterprise. Later ThinOS 8.5 came out and got equipped with MultiTouch and was exicited about that (also because of the lower cost and the formfactor using a 3040).
Our problem now is that the USB redirection speed is too slow when using ThinOS on the 3040 to drawing a circle or to write a signature/text on a drawing. We got it working via USB TCX/RDP redirection, but the speed with drawing in paint with multitouch has much delay, so when drawing a circle it looks like a square.
We are connected to a trial edition of Windows 2016 RD Session Host and don’t have TCX licencse, but it works. When using RemoteFX we got an annoying Dell USB3.0 Hub error in device manager which seems to block TouchScreen usage. Via VMware ESXi 5.5 usb redirection and other methods I have tried to get the USB3 HUB driver working. We cannot get it working. The strange this is that via an official MS RDPv10 client and MS OS >= Win8 it seems to work just fine and also the speed is good then!
How can we achieve better Touch Screen speed? (by using USB Redirection or other means?). When we are connecting from the 5020 Windows IOT Enterprise locally and do RD session session from it, drawing a circle looks good enough.
Should we do a trial with Citrix? We recently started using 5 x 3040’s for standard warehouse tasks and have no troubles on it.please let me know if you have any insights that could help is in the right way

August 10, 2021 at 11:21 am #105984Please remove the USB redirection settings. The 2418HT should work out of the box.
