I have about 30 or so Wyse S30’s that are missing the boot loader or hang up at various stages before Windows actually boots up.

I have followed the directions and tried to use WSI 1.3.6 but for some reason it’s not working. The terminals draw an address, but then nothing happens.

    – TFTPD32 just says “Listening on port 69”
    – Log Messages says “Ready for Imaging”
    – Terminal sits at “evaluating ‘ftp//anonymous:[email protected]/Rapport/Tools/sa/alone/job.i2c’ to ‘stream/ep/x1.msg'”

And that is how it stays for 10 minutes or more depending on my patience level.

    Side notes
-Turbo DHCP did nothing for me so instead I used MagikDHCP
-I am running Windows XP Pro on a laptop
-Also for kicks I tried copying the images to toolssaimages

    Nothing is working.

I took a picture of the Wyse screen with my phone as well and can send it to anyone.

Any help on figuring out how to the this running would be appreciated.

Which steps have you followed? In the WSI Install Guide you can see that your server should get an IP of 10.1.1.12. Did you do that? If not, did you edit the enc.i2c to reflect your IP addressß

I used the instructions that I downloaded from Wyse. The document was titled “QSG – WSI 1.3.6 v3.pdf”. The only thing I did differently from the guide was that TurboDHCP didn’t work at all for me following the instructions so I used MagikDHCP which I use for ghosting PCs and it worked with getting the Wyse terminals addresses.

I checked all of the env.i2c files (3 of them) and they all had the IP of my laptop 192.168.1.5.

Firewall is disabled? Did you had a network cable attached to your laptop while installing WSI?

Windows Firewall is disabled and there is no other firewall or Antivirus running on this laptop, just XP, Magick DHCP & WSI.

I am running it though a small 5-port switch with the only two things connected are the laptop with WSI & the Wyse I am trying to reimage.

Can you login via FTP to 192.168.1.5 with user anonymous?

I have hooked up a computer to the private network the laptop is on and it looks like it may be an FTP issue because I can’t logon as an anonymous user.

Now I have to figure out why….

Windows Firewall was the problem. I was able to successfully reimage a Wyse that had previously booted to boot loader error.

    Thanks for your help!
