I have a WMS 1.3 environment (3040’s and 5070’s), where we configure our workstations by Groups and Configs. My IT staff across the country set up devices by accessing the Central Configuration of the Wyse, and entering the WMS server settings, which brings the client on login to our VDI Windows 10 environment.

The past few months we have been stumped by some odd issues: one monitor will go black. We can remote in to either the Wyse (via WMS) or the VDI session, and the person remoting can see both monitors, and interact with the settings. Hotplugging the monitors doesn’t resolve the problem.

All that seems to resolve the issue is rebooting the Wyse box. I’ve updated the firmware to 8.6_027, removed the RTME add on that we had rolled out, and the black screen issue is still happening. I’ve collected trace logs and Dell is looking at it: I’m wondering if anyone has seen this, or has any bright ideas.

Have you also tried MR4 8.6_206?

We’re running into the same issue a Dell Wyse 5070 running Win 10.  Primary or secondary monitor will randomly go black even though the monitor does not display a loss of signal (still have a blue light on the monitor’s power button, not an orange loss of signal).  Can VNC into the workstation and ‘see’ both monitors and when going into the graphics controls (Intel in our case) both monitors are listed.  Changing the monitor resolution/refresh rate does not bring the monitor back up nor does powering the monitor off/on.  Only way we’ve found is to power cycle the thin client.  Tried downloading and installing the Intel HD graphics driver update from the Dell support site but only the Intel software updated, not the driver for the graphics card. Odd thing is this issue has only popped up on one of our three 5070’s.  Running WMS 2.1.599 for their packages. Anybody find a fix for this?

I had this issue. What I did was log into the portal, disabled dual monitors on that one device. Then rebooted the Wyse, when it came up, re-enable Dual monitor, then reboot again. That seem to fix it. This wa son firmware 8.6_206

Thanks much for the response.  What ended up working for us was just swapping out the monitor cabling for both monitors from DVI to DVI to a DVI to VGA.  Haven’t had an issue with either monitor since.  Both of the original DVI to DVI cables were brand new and had solid connections with no jostling but once swapped for a DVI to VGA the monitors have both worked with no problems (5 days now).

Sorry, meant a displayport to displayport and displayport to VGA cabling.
