Yes i have the same problem.
I downgrade to 8.6 and after that i upgrade to 9.04 and the to 9.11. I test it in two devices. It works, but i hope the update will come and fix it.
February 17, 2021 at 3:32 pm #77653hello
same problem with 5070 pentium
many settings are not applied
February 19, 2021 at 12:07 pm #78911Do we know anything about the wms update?
February 20, 2021 at 2:20 pm #79643Hello,
WMS 3.1.1 Hotfix was applied last night… but no change for myself, still the same VNC error.
I tried to change the password, push the config, restart the unit, and change again the password, but no improvement, VNC is still rejected…
Any idea here?
February 22, 2021 at 10:12 am #80860Hello All,
update 3.1.1 done but the problems are still present 🙁
February 23, 2021 at 9:16 am #81512hello all
in fact everything is ok it was enough just to reset the terminal
February 23, 2021 at 3:02 pm #81690Not for me.
Did a full reset to factory default of a 9.1.1131 thin client and still the same, VNC prompts for a password but it is never accepted…
Takes about 5 seconds and then throws the same connection error.
If I try a bad password, the error message is displayed in a split second.
All tests done with RealVNC viewerFebruary 23, 2021 at 5:22 pm #81759Hello Eric
i have update the bios to 1.8, maybe …
my tests are on a 5070 not 3040
February 23, 2021 at 6:59 pm #81807I saw the hotfix posted on Friday and went to download it today and it has disappeared.
I spoke with a Dell engineer who is assigned to my case and they said the hotfix that was uploaded was corrupted.
They will be uploading the hotfix again on the 26th of this month.
February 23, 2021 at 7:13 pm #81809Oh, one other thing I’d like to add. Seems like for some people, when it’s an option, you can upgrade 8.6 to 9.0 and then to 9.1 to fix issues. But for some people, like us, we can only go from 8.6 to 9.1 or install 9.1 from USB after wiping the partition.
It’s very strange how even pushing 9.1 from USB, which should wipe the partition, still has bugs.
I hope that Dell will revisit the 9.1 USB image they have uploaded and upload one that has all the issues fixed. Seems like it should be unacceptable to have a USB Merlin FW image that is also broken as well.
The only choice for a working 9.1 shouldn’t be 8.6 upgraded to 9.0 and then upgraded to 9.1.
February 23, 2021 at 7:35 pm #81832Intermediate upgrades are impossible for us as we are using 3040 PCoIP units, so there is no “official” 9.0 firmware.
Only upgrade path possible is directly from 8.6 to 9.1… and unfortunately with the VNC bug…
Not counting a WMS bug which I also discovered recently!
On 8.6, we used to manage WMS registration keys via DHCP and Cloud WMS was allowing to change the group registration from the web interface.
However, now with ThinOS 9, you have WMS settings into the “Services” section… but if you disable the WMS registration (put the setting to off) then the device loses the communication to the WMS server (even though the DHCP settings are still present)
Corruption arrived on my policies where, for an unknow reason, the WMS key was set to “null”, the default settings were to disable the “Centralis configuration” settings for non-admin and where the “Admin” password wasn’t working anymore.
As if all policy settings weren’t applied in one go but more like two passes and… due to the failing WMS settings, not receiving all of them… leaving the TC in a corrupted state.
Only option –> USB imaging to format the unit
Due to critical issue with 8.6 and security tokens, it has been one+ year now that we are expecting a workable ThinOS 9 on PCoIP hardware (even though we only use Citrix, just the fact that our hardware base is 100+ PCoIP units)…
So I hope that everything would be sorted out soon… enough is enough!
February 23, 2021 at 7:41 pm #81833I understand how you feel.
We were thinking of abandoning ThinOS on our 5070s as well. We were testing another OS on the 5070 which was actually working very well and had Zoom offloading and everything… but then 9.1 finally came out just as we were about to make the purchase for the other OS with licensing. Now we are waiting on ThinOS 9.1 to have most of it’s issues resolved.
Truth be told, it does seem Dell is very slow on upgrading the software on ThinOS and often creates bugs as well as takes a long time to get things resolved.
We sat around a long time with ThinOS 8.6 on our 5070s with a very old Horizon Client version while we saw other hardware with better software up to date with the latest clients, bells and whistles, etc. working.
Then we saw we could change the OS on the 5070s and tested it out and it breathed new life into the units. But we’re still giving Dell a chance to get things resolved before switching.
Dell probably cares less than the other company does, though, at least in our case.
Dell has already got the money out of us for the 5070 device, so… what’s the motivation to keep the software up to date with as little bugs as possible?
February 23, 2021 at 7:47 pm #81834Agreed, although I see much more stability with ThinOS 9, several partners have already told us that the competition is fierce and we should consider a competitor if we don’t get things sorted out quickly:
February 23, 2021 at 7:52 pm #81835Yep, that’s the precise one we were testing. Haha.
Only have positive things to say about it except the price, which still isn’t bad.
But still hoping Dell gets things sorted!!!
February 26, 2021 at 12:18 pm #83698Hello I have download and install the new hotfix, but vnc does not accept bei connection.
Maybe the clients have to restart one time? Or help resetting the device?
