    Hi,

We noticed that some of our 3040 thin clients changed their hostnames back to the default ones (WT…).

The thin clients are running firmware 8.5_024 and the WMS server is 1.2.

After checking the Events in WMS i noticed following entry:

    10/27/20Device WT6c2b595f62a9 was re-registered to group xxx at 10/27/20 6:23:48 AM.

The device seems to re-register with the group.

Could this cause the rename of the hostname?

    Why could this happen?

    Regards

When a client is moved to another group it is doing a factory reset. This resets the terminalname.
You should upgrade WMS as I think this was modified in a later release.

    Hi,

The thin client wasen’t moved to another group.

It seems to re-register with the group that it was already member of.

But this looks like a move to WMS.
And again, update your WMS server

Was there a solution for this thread?

Having the same issues but can’t be the server version now because we’re running the current version

    Hi,

If your Thin CLients are in ThinOS 9.1.4xxx or 9.1.5xxx, then that’s a known bug.

I hope DELL will resolve that in the next ThinOS release…

    Hi,

We have the same problem with our 3040’s and 9.1.5067 – very frustrating!

So there a ticket created with Dell regarding this?

    Hi,

I think so, regarding this topic and the message by Chris S : https://technicalhelp.de/topic/wyse-3040-5070-thinos-9-1-1131-to-9-1-5067/

    Hi,

    Ok, thank you!
This case does not exactly match my issue, unfortunately.

For me, the WYSE client (3040 or 5070) with ThinOS 9.1.5067 revert back to the factory default hostname after reboot, even though I do not move it from the policy group that is assigned by means of DHCP. The only thing I do is to assign a new hostname in WMS.

    Has anyone else experienced this?

    Hi,

Yeah, that’s exactly my issue too…

I talked about it the day ThinOS 9.1.4234 was released : https://technicalhelp.de/topic/new-thinos-9-1-4234-issues/

With this setting the name will not be deleted.
The test with repeated logging in and shutting down again confirm this

Wow that seems to work !

Tested with one 3040 with ThinOS 9.1.5067, 2 reboot and my custom device name is still there. I will try with other devices…

Big thank you for the tips !
