Hello. I am in the testing phase of a new Citrix implementation using Dell 3040 on 8.6_710 ThinOS.

The problem I am currently observing is that when inside the Citrix session, the CPU on only ONE core will slowly rise and rise and eventually hit 95-100% usage, resulting in the performing in the session (audio, video, user feedback with mouse and keyboard) to grind to a halt. When I look at the CPU usage, the “average” is sitting around 20-25%, but that is only because 3 of the CPU are sitting at 2-5% usage, while the one CPU is doing all of the work and causing slowdown.

Is there anything I need to be on the lookout for in the WMS/Citrix settings? Do I just have an errant Wyse? Is this potentially a bug with the ThinOS version I upgraded too?

My apologies as this is my first post on here (been lurking for years, this place is an amazing help for a technology that is so lightly documented from even its vendor) so let me know if I am missing any key information. Thank you.

AFAIK the ICA client is single-threaded and does not make use of more than one core.

Thank you, what would my options from here be? I am working towards upgrading the OS to 9.0+ but I don’t think that will resolve any CPU throttle issues.

Is the 3040 model using Citrix not advisable due to lack of hardware power? Is there a model or solution that is recommended for this scenario?

Although 3040 is not a real power horse, I would recommend installing ThinOS 9 on one unit to do your tests.

Thank you. I have upgraded the Wyse to 9.1.2 and the Citrix performance has improved vastly and the processing is now being split across all 4 CPUs. However, the audio still encounters windows of audio degradation that would not really be acceptable in a production/call center environment. Are there any recommended audio configurations for Wyse ThinOS 9.1.2 and Citrix?

I’ve already got Audio quality set to Medium and audio being handled by UDP.

There is nothing more to fine-tune that I know of.
