What is the most suitable upgrade path to go from Thin OS 9.1.1131 to most recent version 9.1.5067?
For both Dell Wyse 3040 and 5070 thin client devices.thanks
regards
PeterJanuary 12, 2022 at 9:56 am #106952If you are using ThinOS 9.0.1136, you cannot upgrade the ThinOS firmware or install application packages after September 2021. You must disable the time server on ThinOS, change the system time to Aug 2021, and then upgrade the ThinOS firmware or install the application package. Once you have this done download ThinOS 9.0 to ThinOS 9.1.3129 Image file for Dell Wyse 3040, 5070, 5470 and 5470 All-in-One Thin Clients
Then you will be able to upgrade to ThinOS 9.1.3129 or later to ThinOS 9.1.5067 Image file for Dell Wyse 3040, 5070, 5470, and 5470 All-in-One Thin Clients
January 12, 2022 at 5:21 pm #106955Wow, really? That sounds like a crazy workaround to something they should be fixing in software.
January 12, 2022 at 7:41 pm #106956Well, it kind of was, you just happen to be several versions behind.
January 13, 2022 at 1:26 am #106957Hello Jim, first of all thanks for the info!
Lot of people are several versions behind, because all these former 9.1.x versions simply didn’t work at all…By the way, what would be the most suitable path to upgrade from 8.6.710 to 9.1.5067?
thanks a lot
January 13, 2022 at 4:24 am #106958For @pdgeye4consult-be :
You’re in ThinOs 9.1.1131, you must first upgrade to ThinOs 9.1.3129 with this package :
ThinOS 9.1 to ThinOS 9.1.3129 Image file for Dell Wyse 3040, 5070, 5470 and 5470 All-in-One Thin Clients :
Then you can upgrade to ThinOS 9.1.5067 with this package :
ThinOS 9.1.3129 or later to ThinOS 9.1.5067 Image file for Dell Wyse 3040, 5070, 5470 and 5470 All-in-One Thin Clients :
After that you will be able to install ThinOS 9.1.5067 Application Packages
January 13, 2022 at 4:33 am #106960If you are using ThinOS 8.6, you must upgrade to ThinOS 8.6_807 and apply the latest BIOS updates before upgrading to ThinOS 9.1.5067
Then use the ThinOS 8.6 to ThinOS 9.1.5067 Base Image file for Dell Wyse 3040 Thin Clients : https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-us/drivers/driversdetails?driverid=c65j4&oscode=thn80&productcode=wyse-3040-thin-client
January 14, 2022 at 5:13 am #106965Hello Vinz,
the updates went fine like you described, thanks for that.2 issues though!
* the host name has changed to something like WT2CEA7F3503A0* the device jumped back to the device group where it was a member before the upgrades
January 14, 2022 at 7:57 am #106967Hello Vinz,
the updates went fine like you described, thanks for that.Still 1 issues though!
* the host name has changed to something like WT2CEA7F3503A0The other issue has been solved by setting the group token in the policies as well
(the device jumped back to the device group where it was a member before the upgrades)
You can do that in ThinOS 9.x – Services – WMS SettingsJanuary 14, 2022 at 12:11 pm #106972If you are using DHCP option tag 12 to name the thin clients that is currently broke in 9.1.4 and 9.1.5. I have a ticket open with Dell about it and have even tested a beta firmware Dell gave me that didn’t work. I don’t think anyone reported it before me.
