Hello,
Thank a lot for your website and ConfGen π
I get 2 Wyse 3020 (T10D), I upgraded with the last ThinOS, but there are a different BIOS version, I don’t find to download the last BIOS filename “T10D_bios”
Wyse nΒ°1 :
Platform Name : 3020
Build Name : T10D_wnos
BIOS Name : T10D_bios
OS : ThinOS
Sytem version : 8.6_412
BIOS : 7.1_212Wyse nΒ°2 :
Platform Name : 3020
Build Name : T10D_wnos
BIOS Name : T10D_bios
OS : ThinOS
Sytem version : 8.6_412
BIOS : 7.1_214I want to upgrade BIOS for Wyse nΒ°1 like Wyse nΒ°2 (7.1_212 -> 7.1_214). Where can I find this please (not on support Dell website).
Regards,
Alain
April 13, 2021 at 9:16 pm #105023ThinOS v8.6_412 is only raw image. It does not cover BootLoader (3020 does not have Bios). Probably you upgraded your 7.1_212 deviceΒ from much earlier firmware. Not step by step. It can be a possible.
Please download v8.6_013 from dell.com/support. It is Merlin image. It should have latest BootLoader. Downgrade your client, then check its bootloader version. Then upgrade it to v8.6_412 again. The upgrading will be keeping latest BootLoader with latest image.
Please let me know result.
April 14, 2021 at 4:43 pm #105073Hello,
Thank you for your help.
I have been downgrade to this version ThinOS : 8.6_013 (filename from Dell : OS_Merlin_v8.6_B013_3020_T10D_ENG.zip)
this archive contains :bootLoader.img
cmos.img
commandsXml.xml
par1.imgThe BIOS upgrade don’t work.
Is it possible to upgrade the file by FTP ? Or must have use USB key ?

April 14, 2021 at 4:51 pm #105074What is the reason why you want to upgrade the BIOS (beside the fact that you WANT IT)?
Typically, there isn’t a reason to do that very often. And especially with these old T10D models, I would not touch that.CG
April 14, 2021 at 5:02 pm #105080No specially reason π Wyse are not in production, only for lab home (learn and play).
Maybe with USBFT (https://downloads.dell.com/wyse/USBFT/3.3.0/) it’s possible to extract bootloader from my other T10D ?!
I am an IT guy and like test.
Update : USBFT isn’t compatible with 3020 : https://downloads.dell.com/wyse/USBFT/3.3.0/Dell_Wyse_USB_Imaging_Tool_v3.3.0_User’s_Guide_V2.pdf
April 14, 2021 at 5:08 pm #105084Correct, all ARM-based units like T10 or T10D are not able to boot from USB.

April 19, 2021 at 2:11 pm #105130Hello,
I don’t find how to upgrade this file :
bootLoader.img
cmos.img
commandsXml.xml
par1.imgThis page https://www.dell.com/support/manuals/en-us/wyse-3020/thinos_8.6.x_rn/bios-information?guid=guid-a93d1897-5394-4a00-938c-089e9412f348&lang=en-us mentionned “wloader 7.1_216”
I continue to search/learn how it’s works π

April 22, 2021 at 1:58 pm #105178The files you have listed above are the “Merlin”-Files that are used for USB imaging. Forget those.

July 4, 2022 at 10:17 am #107711Hello,
sorry to hitchjack the thread, but I see it was stated that wyse 3020 cannot boot from USB, but on the WLoader appears “USB” as possibility, and when used, the system will try to boot from USB and fail (probably due to my bad understanding of the files). I even managed to get kernel panic due to the files being wrong, so I think it is false the system cannot boot from there…
still, how would you upgrade it then? I would love to see some light flavour of linux installed on it…or even better, ending up using it for HomeassistantOS.
If anyone has a hint, I would very much appreciate it π
July 4, 2022 at 5:37 pm #107712Hi again,
just in case this is relevant,
my device has ThinOS_Lite 2.5_012
build name is T00D_xen
bios version 7.1_216
I did managed to “boot” some TXXD_xxx somehoow, but I messed it up thereafter π
I will keep on trying, if managed to get to some advance, I will inform here for if someone would be interested, they would end up arriving here at some point π
October 8, 2022 at 1:58 pm #107936Just to be clear about this:
I Have a wyse 3020 ThinOs Lite, and I can make it boot DELLWYSE USB created with USB FIrmware updater V2, and it brings a screen to either copy firmware from device to USB or from USB to Device.
So far, I could do Device-USB and then USB-device with the same firmware. I am trying to find some Linux (found the T50 here in this webpage but fails due to mbr.img; it tries to copy it to the device and fails with an error about it being too big (512). -
