    Hello,

I am in the middle of testing an upgrade of WMS 3.52 through to 4.10.  This requires multiple ‘step ups’ of 3.6 and then 3.8.  These upgrades have gone fine.  However, whenever I try to upgrade from 3.8 (I have applied the hotfix) to 4.1, the update fails each time with an error “failed to migrate lockbox configuration while upgrade.”

I’m not sure why this is failing or how to correct for this; does anyone have any experience and how I can correct?

    Thank you.

I recommend that you install every update in order, as always take a snapshot of your VM before applying updates. Install 4.0.0.526, WMS 4.0.0.540, WMS 4.0.0.547 and then version 4.0.0.550. Then do the same process for the 4.1 updates.

Because of this failure, I did revert my snapshot and start over with doing step-up upgrades and I get the exact same failure message when going from 3.8 to 4.0.0.526.  So at the moment, I cannot advance the update beyond 3.8 without receiving a failure message “failed to migrate lockbox configuration while upgrade.”

    Thanks.

Were you able to install WMS_Hotfix_3.8.0.182.exe?

Yes, I am able to upgrade WMS_Hotfix_3.8.0.182.exe successfully. Next upgrade after that to 4.0.0.526 is when it fails.

    Thanks

I had another SE report they changed the DB passwords to a stronger version and they were able to apply updates.

Quick question, did either of you Move or Copy your VM to another location?

The VM has moved between ESX hosts (vMotion) before due to host maintenance, yes.

I will send you an email directly as you mentioned above.

    Thanks.

There is a fix available with direct contact with Dell Support. Ask them for the KB article to fix WMS upgrade. You will need to have a personal Dell support account to access the article.

    Hi Jim,

Do you know the reason this isn’t publicly available?  Why is it hidden behind having to open a support case with Dell?

    Thank you.

Has anyone had any success with this?  Dell will only allow to open a support case via phone and no one I’ve talked at Dell knows anything about this KB article.

There is a fix, you will have to contact Dell Support for the instructions and the files. I am no longer working for Dell and cannot share the information.

    Jim
