    Hi, TT, Confgen and other

I am facing some problem regarding database connectivity when I open the WDM software.

I have a Windows Server 2003 R2 with all latest security patches update. This machine is the part of domain controller and It has also installed the MOM application and Microsoft SQL Server 2005 on Windows Authentication Mode. I installed the WDMv4.5.1_RTM_WYSE release and updated the following Hotfixes before running the WDM software.

    1. HF04051010007
    2. HF04051010107
    3. HF04051011407
    4. HF04051011507
    5. HF04051012707
    6. HF04051013407

Installed the WDM with the domain user a/c which have the administrative rights and create the separate MSDE Instances for (RapportDB) database. WDM installed and run successfuly with that domain user a/c who installed the WDM.

Problem is when the other domain user witout administrative rights but they have permitted on WDM with WDM admin rights runs the software It gives the MS SQL database connectivity error below.

    ” [-2147467259] ConnectToDB: [DBNETLIB][ConnectionOpen (Connect()).]Specified SQL server not found.
Driver Source: Microsoft OLEDB Provider for SQL Server”

Can anyone help me regarding this issue.

    Regards,
    Enam

    Hi Enam,

You will not be able to use SQL in windows authentication mode, you must SQL in mixed mode with WDM. Also there are some additional steps you need to follow to make WDM work with SQL 2005.

I will post a document on this shortly,

    Cheers,
    -TT

    http://www.freewysemonkeys.com/site/modules.php?name=Downloads&d_op=viewdownloaddetails&lid=105&ttitle=Manually_installing_the_Wyse_Device_Manager_Database_on_SQL_Server.pdf

This doc describes manually importing the WDM database in to SQL 2005, you can then run the WDM installation and connect to this database. This off course needs an enterprise key as using full SQL is an enterprise only feature,

    Cheers,

Just one correction to TT comment.
Using SQL in only an Enterprise feature if the SQL DB is not on the same server. As long as it is on the same server feel free to use full SQL server as your DB.
Only using Oracle server is an Enterprise feature.

    Hi,

I am using the WDM workgroup edition that’s why I cant manualy import the WDM database and Microsoft Office Manager required SQL Server autentication in Windows Authentication Mode.
I dont have any option except I creat the seprate MSDE Instance for WDM.

    Regards,
    Enam
