Hi,
We have some PC’s and have now bought some WyseV90. When we control the PC’s remotely we are using NetOp Remote Control.
Are there any disadvantages in disable VNC on the Wyse and install NetOp Remote Control instead on the Wyse? What do you recommend?
December 4, 2006 at 11:59 pm #8914I’m not going to pretend to have experience with netop, but I would look into free space on you new devices. It looks like the netop client maybe 15mb…that’s alot for a XPe flash module. Space is premium. Space aside, you may find required files are missing from embedded OS’ that are normally present on full blown PCs. This cuts space down, but may ned to be tracked down and added to your image.
Additionally, its good to review performance factors that may apply. You don’t want to install a remote tool that will slow it down.
The VNC client is there…free…and tied to the device manager suite.
If you disable the VNC you’ll lose the right-click option to Remote Shadow in the device manager.Aside from that, seems both could get the job done.

No problem dissabling the local VNC that comes with the V90.
Wyse provided that VNC client as a built in resource, but you are free to use whatever works best in your environment.January 4, 2007 at 9:38 pm #8944Yep, I agree. You can even use Remote Desktop on a XPe Thin Client. You will need to enable it first, see below…
January 9, 2007 at 1:51 pm #8949When I use the script to enable Remote Desktop I get the error message “Try 1:FTP Failed:550 FTP In MergeReg Failed Line#: 22 Cmd:MR “Enable_RDCregRDP-Local.reg”” 😥
I would to use Remote Desktop by default. My Wyse client is an V90
