I run several V10L’s (and LE1200’s), version 6.3 on MS Terminal Server 2003. My devices are auto configured via ini file. I love these devices, but a big drawback is the inability to attach USB devices to them. The ability to connect thumb drives and external CDROMs would be ideal.
I used to have this partially functioning with the WYSE TCX USB software, but that is meant only for virtual desktop environments, not terminal server shared environments. In fact, the latest version of that won’t even install on server 2003. With the older version of the TCX, I could install it on the server, but then anyone connected to that terminal server could access any USB device that was connected. Not ideal.
Is there some way to make this work? Any 3rd party addons?
Thanks for your advice
RichardJanuary 14, 2010 at 9:52 am #17408If you just want to map USB sticks that works out of the box. USB drive mapping is a WTOS feature since old 5.3 code. So even your old 1200LEs shold be able to do that.
With the latest 6.5 code you can even use DVD drives!No TCX is needed for that.

January 14, 2010 at 1:14 pm #17413Thanks. All I want to do is be able to connect a usb storage device to the v10l and access it through windows explorer. And no other sessions on the terminal server should be able to access it.
How do I enable the USB mapping that you mention? Is that a setting in one of the ini files? I’ve looked before for such a setting, but haven’t noticed it.
Thanks for your help.
January 14, 2010 at 1:53 pm #17415This can be done either on the local systemin the global preferences or the ICA session.
Or you can use the wnos.ini with commands like
global:SessionConfig=ALL MapDisks=yes
per session:
CONNECT=ICA
Description=”New1″
Mapdisks=yes
MapdisksUnderZ=yes
LocalCopy=noUse my ConfGen tool to create the wnos.ini.

January 14, 2010 at 4:18 pm #17424Hey CG, on the topic of your configuration tool…any idea if an updated version is coming out with the new .ini parameters? I love that tool and was hoping a new release was in the works =)
Thanks, Ryan
January 14, 2010 at 4:27 pm #17427What parameters are you missing? I have already a new version here with some more parameters and features. Plan was to release it until end of jan.

January 14, 2010 at 4:28 pm #17428Wow! I’ve been asking Wyse for a year if this could be done. I got the thumb drives to show up using the ini entries, but my external usb DVD doesn’t show up. I guess those devices weren’t supported untill 6.5? I’m on 6.3 currently.
Thanks so much for your help
