I’m pretty new to Dell Wyse Thin Clients. I’ve tried in several Ways to Pull a Custom Image and i’m always facing the same Problem.

When i Pull the Image (from WDA or to USB Stick) i Succeed, but the Wyse Device Agent doesn’t start after Image Pull. Not on the Device i pulled the Image from, and also not if i Push the Image to an other (or the same) Client.

I tried different things like following this manual from this Forum:

Download latest base image from DELL.  Use the USB tool to put it on a stick and image a client.
Install/Uninstall/Configure all the Crap I need in the image.
Strip out whatever I can to make the image as small as possible.
Turn on the write filter so WDA fires up and connects to WMS.
Schedule an image pull for the client.  When this kicks off, it will turn off UWF and reboot the client.  Log in as Admin
Open C:\Program Files\Wyse\WDA\Config\CCMProtocolConfig.xml and strip out the MAC Address, Owner ID, Wyse ID, Authentication Code and Group Key.
Run (as administrator) C:\Windows\Setup\BuildMaster.cmd.  Pick your image preferences and let it do it’s thing.  When it’s done, it will shut off.  Turn it back on and it will upload the image to the WMS repository.

Cannot Push or Pull Image from 5070 WIE10

But i’m not able to Pull the Image and still run WDA after the Image Pull…

    I appreciate every Help i get…

    Kind Regards
    Dave

PS: I hope my description is understandable, even if my native language is German…

I am German, too. So, we speak the same English 🙂

What Win version are you running? What WDA version?

    Oh good – so I guess we’ll understand 😉

I use Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC. I even tried the most recent Image from Dell with no changes at the Image. Still I’m not able to Pull the Image without this issue.

    I tried different versions – I believe 14.4.6.5, 14.5.1.37 and 14.5.3.11

    Good Morning
I guess I figured out the reason for the Issue. The Image Pull seems to fail, if the Language Settings and/or the Keyboard Localization Settings are changed. So it seems like I have to pull the Image with “wrong” localization Settings…

It is not a perfect solution, because I have to do the Settings manually on each Device after Image Push – but I couldn’t find another way.

    Kind Regards

Are you using the Dell Application Control Center to prepare the image for pulling?

    I’m not sure if i do…

I schedule an Image-Pull through WMS. On the Client i choose Pull After Sysprep. After Reboot of the Thinclient i run the Buildmaster (C:\Windows\Setup\BuildMaster.cmd).

When this performed without issue (what’s just the case if I don’t download an other Language pack) then it shuts down after Image Pull.

When Booting again it uploads the Image to WMS.

When it fails it seems to Stop the BuildMaster and rebuild the “old” state. But after Boot WDA does not work anymore.

    Kind Regards
    Dave
